I was reading a post where we can change our races. How does that work? I started a new game playing an Argonian instead of an Altmer now but they are still both mages. Now I think I am wasting my time, training my horses and researching all over again, where I could have kept my Altmer and change him into an Argonian. So if this is possible how does it work? What happens? What do you loose and what do you keep?

I might try this option and go back to my Altmer and change him into an Argonian so I can keep my storage, horse stats and what not.

Now all I need is fluff reasons for this happening. :)

Check the crown store. There should be a race & appearance change token. 3.5K crowns as far as I can remember. You need to buy that, get to char selection screen and activate it.

Crown store. There you can buy a race change token. For about 30 real life bucks. The points you put into your racial passives get refunded. That's all there is to it.

Thank you. $30 bucks or 3500 crowns eh? Might be worth it considering all the time I didn't spend on my Altmer.

Another question. If I am the Altmer doing the Aldmeri quests and change him into the Argonian, am I still doing the Aldmeri quests or do I transform and go to Morrowind and start doing that Faction quest line. (Ebonheart?)

WARNING - the race change token is deceptive.

A race change token only allows you to change races IN YOUR FACTION. unless you have the adventurers pack which costs about $20.
of course they neglect to tell you that and most people find out the hard way after wasting money on a token.

Very slightly off-topic but I have a question regarding this. If you have the 'any race, any alliance' and you race change to something outside your original alliance, does this still keep you in your original faction? Or does it swap you to the faction of the new race? Or let you choose?
I have a feeling it's the first one, you're stuck as your original alliance regardless of the any race, any alliance + the token.... but I was wondering. I wound up releveling an entire character to pvp with some EP friends on my khajiit. I was tempted to try a token since I had any race and any alliance, but didn't want to end up wasting the crowns with no difinitive answer.

Yes, if you have "Any race, Any Alliance" then you will be allowed to change race to any other race, but you are locked to your chosen alliance on that character as you ORIGINALLY chose when you first created the char.

If you DO NOT have the pack, you are restricted to choose only races that are native to your chosen alliance.

I am not sure how to take it. By that do you mean my first character is the Altmer and if I change it to an Argonian, I will still be with the Aldmeri Dominion? Or do you mean you have to take the faction that the race is relegated to?

I do have the Imperial DLC if that is what people mean any race any faction. I want my Argonian to stick with the Aldmeri Dominion but finding Morrowind (not Vvardenfell) a bit too dreary right now and want to go back to Grathwood but loving my Argonian character.

The "Any Race, Any Alliance" upgrade is part of the "Adventurer's Pack" which is completely separate from the Imperial Edition Upgrade. You can see them displayed separately here:

    http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/crownstore/upgrades

    1. There are NO circumstances with ANY current token options that can you change your character's faction OR faction quest progress. You would have to delete your character and make a new one to "change" their faction.

    2. Your character will be in the exact same place in all aspects. That means location, quest progress, achievements, skills, levels, inventory, mount upgrades, etc.

    3. Only with the "Any Race, Any Alliance" upgrade, part of the Adventurer's Pack in the Crown Store, could you race change from an Altmer to an Argonian. Otherwise you could only race change from an Altmer elf to a Bosmer or Khajiit.

    4. With One Tamriel you can do any quests for any factions with a character of any race. This was free and does not require the "Any Race, Any Alliance" upgrade. You can level your existing Argonian through the Aldmeri Dominion content right now without having to pay for a race change or ever having to do Marrowind/Black Marsh/Etc on any character.

I do have another question I just thought off. So if I do the Aldmeri Dominion quests, and what happens when it comes to the main quest? Do I have to go back to Ebonheart (or the place where The Prophet resides where I go to him now like a Deadric cave) or can I visit him in the Cave on Summerset Isle. (sorry bad with names, can't remember the proper names)

No, only one Harborage is active, the one in your home factions. The other 2 copies are there but can't be entered. So if you are AD you need to go to the one in Vulkel Guard, if you are EP to the one in Davon's Watch and if you are DC to the one in Daggerfal to do the quests. Remember that you can't change the faction, just the race.

Have to wait for pay day on Friday to get the token but was able to get the Any Race any Alliance since I had some crowns left over. Question I have now is what exactly is the name of the token I want? All I see is look change and attribute change. To change the race is it the attribute change token?

Should be called "Race and Appearance change token" or something like that. It's 3.5K Crowns, and under Service tab. I don't use the crown store frequently and never bought a race change so I don't know them by heart. Just browse around and you will find it.

base game allows 8 characters and you can buy up to 6 more character slots, each slot cost 1,500 crowns compared to 3,500 crowns to change your race and the way you look. Use your BRAIN, buying a slot is way cheaper.
