Next update! Ilambris set talk

Will the ilambris still be best in slot for magical sorcerer in next update? Since the loss is probably ~4K or is there a different set we should be looking for? And will the new monster sets be better for PvP or PvE?

Ilambis was already a tough sell for Netch's Touch full lightning builds. Without a back bar vMA inferno staff Ilambris struggles to keep up. Solo, this means sacrificing the Exploiter passive. It still may be fine in groups with dedicated healers running Wall of Storms. Otherwisr, not so much. Grothdarr is a great choice for solo, 4-man content. Basically, you can get roughly 2k dps with Ilambris when both elements fire consistently, 1k for just lightning . Grothdarr does about 1500. The new dps monster set may be worth looking at. And Skoria for dot builds and Nerieneth for direct damage builds are still options.

So I will still run Ilambris in well coordinated trials groups, but that's it.

Thanks for the reply and yea I was looking at grothdor but couldn't tell if I should replace illambris now I could probably give a try at getting the set

A mag sorc needs a ranged monster set, so the best two are ilambris and skoria. Domihaus has a big range, but it still requirea you to stay inside and stay within 10m~ of the boss to hit it with the damage, otherwise you'll get ~133 spell damage only (200*10/15), which isn't too bad after all.

Skoria fits a lightning heavy attack build perfectly, but the health isn't needed at all so there's that. Ilambris doesn't proc the fire effect at all on a full lightning sorc. And with the new changes to concussion more lightning damage is required to get the same uptime as before.

The new one will probably shine on magplars and mag dks, as they are in melee range anyway and fully benefit from the set.

Then you might as well use two of the new set and go melee whenever you can
