Damage buff to Sellistrix isn't nearly enough to be "viable"

  • Sellistrix:
  • Increased the damage of this Item Set’s proc by 30%.
  • Decreased the time it takes for the proc to erupt to 1.5 seconds from 2 seconds.
  • Increased the cooldown of this Item Set’s proc to 5.5 seconds from 5 seconds.

First thing's first. This is the right direction, definitely. But instead of the mile it needed to run, it's only walked a third of the way. This set has potential for being a part of end game PvE Stamina builds for it's Physical AoE damage. But the amount it actually produces is incredibly negligible, and the increase of only 30% was deemed enough? 30% of a small number is an even smaller number, and what's worse? The Tooltip lies to you.

My Tooltip for Sellistrix's Proc damage says 4300 to all enemies, and I know it can't crit so that's the flat damage right? I test on a dummy.

Every time it procced, it hit for 3500. Apparently, 800 damage is just flying out the window somewhere? Then a little math, taking the amount actually hitting instead of the Tooltip.

(3,500 x 0.30 = 1,050) + 3500 = 4,550

Someone please enlighten me as to what exactly is going on and how everything actually works. I've been wanting this set to be good but my head hurts. :'( Is the only thing this set is actually meant to do is be used to Stun and the damage done is just a "plus"?

    Did you included the opponents resistance into your calculation? 18K iIrc. Translates to around 30% mitigation. Also, for an AoE + hard CC + proc on all dmg sources 4.5k + seems okayish.

    BTW my tooltip on live reads 5.2k

    4300 * 0,815 = 3507 -> target mitigates 18,5% of your dmg -> target has 9250 Armor.

    This is AOE CC set. The damage will never be better or even good enough as sets that are single target or even AoE damage focused.

    Even the testing dummies have armor mitigation? And if the mitigation is around 30%, and the damage is being increased by 30%....doesn't that seem redundant?

    I'm sure I could get my tooltip a tad higher toward your number, working with a Max Stam right now of just under 34k. Apparently though it doesn't scale off Weapon Damage, which is poo.

    Redundant? Why? They had the same mitigation before the buff.

    Also neither max stam affects it. Only stuff that increases your damage done. Like Berserk buff, CP, passives on some weapons/classes and penetration.

    Nope.

    10k dmg * 30% boost * 30% mitigtion:
    10000 * 1,3 * 0,7 -> 9100

    U need to boost your dmg by ~42,8% to make up for 30% mititgation.

    I use this in vma, it is by far the best set I've used.

    I use ut for fun in pvp, it's really only effective on breaches, flags and tight corridors.

    Thank you for the post!

    However, in VMA Sellistrix is a godsend, tried it back in the day when I was still struggling with ranged adds and slapped this set on my stam build, and it made a huge difference.

    Granted, in group pve content it's not really as viable as say Kragh's, Veli or Skoria for example.
