Can you tank as a werewolf?

Recently found out tormentor set doesn't work with them. Maybe control aggro with damage... not sure. So I ask what ideas do you guys have for this or is it impossible?

You can't tank for PvE, no. I mean, technically you could be a werewolf and just never transform, but a werewolf has no taunt. For pvp, you'd be tanky and able to apply pressure, so yes.

... but a werewolf has no taunt.

No innate taunt, but a werewolf in Tormentor could taunt with their leap ability. It would be... interesting to say the very least. And most likely not very effective.

I need to put more points in my reading passive.

No, because you can't reliably hold aggro and block effectively. DPS is lackluster too since you can only use 5 abilities. It's niche for PvP and useless for group PvE.

He asked if he could fill the role of tank, not clear a normal trial with 11 other role-free pups.

He asked whether a werewolf can tank, not whether he can fill the role of a tank. Re-read the thread title. I am fairly sure there was some tanking by a werewolf happening once or twice during that trial run.

And yes, i realize the video wasn't exactly the answer he was looking for, that's why i added the smiley, mister tight-arse.

Tank is a role. That's not tanking any more than it was tanking when Manti lost taunt the other night and wacked me in the face. You answered the question "Can 12 tanky self-sustain builds complete certain levels of group content?". And that's great, it's cool that it can be done, but it's not an answer to the question. The whole thing is about the potential of taunting. Get defensive about your video plug, fine, that doesn't make me a tightass. Bork bork.

Sidenote: Tightass? For real? Further proof puppers can't taunt.

WW heavy attacks always restore stamina. He even has a passive that boosts "heavy attack stamina return" specifically.

Well you can try with Tormentor set, from Banished Cells, though I doubt the pounce is classified as "charge" ability.

This question is for general fun and knowledge - not to fill a specific dungeon "role".

    Question:

Tormentor armor set = taunt enemy when use charge ability
--some people have said that Werewolf "pounce" does count as a charge ability and that they have used the "pounce" ability for this purpose.

Ice staff = taunt when heavy attack
--- does Ice Staff taunt work while in Werewolf form?

Undaunted Bastion armor set = if you taunt enemy while under 60% health you gain a damage shield (13,760)

Tormentor + Undaunted Bastion + Ice Staff

Any time my health goes down to 60% I can just pounce around or heavy attack for a damage shield

Perhaps in small scale "skirmish" PvP?

    Anybody tried this?

Yes, I have a werewolf tank but do not use your werewolf form against bosses. You NEED to be able to taunt bosses to keep that heavy damage on you. Werewolf form, as a tank, is more useful for crowd control while you have a massive pack of weaker enemies. Transform, and use your howls constantly to control the flow of the NPCs and eventually direct them on you, since you'll be the nearest enemy to them. Also remember, you lose some of your health in werewolf form, but you do have a very powerful self-healing ability in exchange, which can allow your healer to change focus to healing the dps.

Again though, do NOT use werewolf form against bosses. Instead, have a second ultimate for boss fights, whichever suits your build.

This is how I play my 2h Templar tank character. I use the Undaunted taunt to keep bosses on me while using crowd control abilities to keep lesser enemies off of my teammates, and hopefully on me too at times. The werewolf form, like I explained, is for massive groups of NPCs. Turn back once you're fighting a boss, or if there is a boss among the group, at least use your taunt on them before transforming, do your thing, and quickly turn back before the taunt wears off. The werewolf's howls are very powerful group CC and can help a lot, surprisingly.
