Guild trading before the magic 50 members

Hi all!

I've recently started the Enchanter's Exchange - a guild for players looking to boost their enchanting skill by deconstructing glyphs created by other players (let me know if you're interested in joining :-P).

We're currently at 19 guild members, so we have access to the Guild Bank, but not yet access to the Store. So what I've suggested to members so that we run 'honour system' trading in the bank - if you take a glyph, deposit 100 gold (by my calculations, a reasonable sum), and if you deposit some glyphs, I'll send some gold back to you. I'm mailed them to ask them to let me know if they're interested (I've not opted everyone in automatically), but no responses yet.

Does this seem like a sensible idea? Is asking guild members to reply to me too much to ask? Should I just keep plugging away until I get 50 members and do it properly?

Thoughts muchly appreciated!

Sounds fair although you could target the pricing of items a bit better with add-ons such as Master Merchant (MM) or Tamriel Trade Centre (TTC). Overall, though, I don't think a fledgling guild's members would have many objections to such a policy.

Another option would be to assign a self-imposed guild "tax" of 'x' percent on top of that for withdrawn items ... to build up the guild bank a little.

The bigger issue, of course, is the "honor" system. Looks like you're doing the right thing at the moment ... and sending them gold even though that can be a lot of work.

There are a few controls in place already for bank withdraw permission tiers ... though it's impossible to police every guild member. Maybe you've seen some of the disaster discussion threads in the forums where guild members have taken from the guild bank and then immediately quit the guild.

Probably not an issue now at 19 members. But, as your guild grows, make sure you have the withdraw permissions in place. No guild master wants to have several weeks/months of work unraveled.
