Being damaged inside the front door "oil room" at Dragonclaw

So I am oiling away at DC (above the front door , though the oil grates, as always) and my oils are basically melting away from the siege on the front door and I am taking lots of damage through the floor (wall ?) - red circles on the floor as usual , went through 6 oils before the door comes down (we lost DC, anyways) . This is not normal I am thinking, so I head to ash and begin oiling in the same "oil room" area of the front door and there I am having not problems, but the same red circles are on the floor of the "oil room" at ash, and the 2 oils I started with lasted the whole time till the door came down and no damage to myself.
Now, I know that you take damage from siege on the outside walls when they are damaged, but is what occurred at DC normal or is Ash the normal and DC is a fluke? I haven't had this happen before at DC or any other keeps while oiling from the inside of the "oil room" at any keeps front door.
