Igneous Shield - Worth the Cost?

I see a lot of Magicka DK builds that run igneous shield.

Problem is I slot it and feel it is just a waste of resources.

The shield itself seems weak compared to using dampen magic and it costs more to cast (right?). My health in Cyro is approx. 25k.

Is there a proper way/time to use it in PvP that I'm missing out on? I generally use it as an "oh ***" skill when I'm losing a lot of health and then I switch bars and cast healing ward (major mending use).

Thoughts?

The real power from Igneous Shield was the damage shield for allies. Since that was nerfed, it has become less useful - in most cases Bone Shield's synergy will make for a stronger damage shield for allies. If you are running a different damage shield and it works well, then that's all that matters.

Generally, if you're a heavy magicka user with lots of light armor, you're better served with an Annulment morph anyway. Igneous Shield is dependent on your health pool, so if you're not stacking HP, it's not really worth it. I think the only real edge you'd get from Igneous Shield over Annulment is the Minor Brutality and ultimate gen you get from Mountain's Blessing.

I dont use it on mag dk. Pointless since you are always on offense plus embers is a ridiculous heal.

Stam dk its a MUST.

Returns stamina + costs magicka so its not a resource drainer.

Run tri food so you can use igneous shield and volitile armor both cost over 3k magicka
Tri pots will also be helpful.
