in ESO its just seems like Stuff just got glued to a robe.... and Viola heavy armor.....

Really it comes down to this.

I mean which sets are we talking? Because last time I check Breton heavy was platemail, that's not very robe like.

You can mix and match heavy pieces and still come out OK.

My Stamina Nightblade has a collaboration of Ra Gada, Order of the Hour, Skinchanger, and Ebony styles.

I personally think the heavy armor models look the best from the 3....i also like how varied the models look while still being able to mix and match...what i like the most tough is that armor actually looks used, with scratches etc.... sure a lot of the armor is 2d and not 3d...but i take this every day if it helps improve performance

The only complain i have is that outside tanking there is hardly any reason to wear heavy armor so i never really use it

I love heavy. Really depends on style though. Breton is still one of my favourites and it definitely doesn't look like a robe :D

Xivkyn style is still my favorite after 1.5 years of using it. It fits quite nicely with many of the monster sets. It's actually closer in looks to what Daedric was in the other TES games.

Skinchanger chest piece is pretty damn awesome. I love it in combination with Dark Brotherhood light pants (or should I say kilt?) I also like the ebony style.

I like the Nord and Breton Armors too but sadly those vanilla armor styles do look a bit too thin too be heavy really. Maybe they'll adjust the meshes to be a bit more bulky some day.

In the end it comes down to personal preferences and combinations of different styles really.

that absolutely does not look like heavy armor though....

It does not look like heavy armour in WoW or other MMOs but it's more Elder-Scroll-y that way. Heavy armour in ESO are very similar to heavy armour in other TES games in term of design. Bulky heavy armour from WoW or other MMOs will be very out of place in the Elder Scroll universe.

Cartoony MMOs like wow would be a poor example to use. ESO has a more realistic appearance that fits the game much better.

I love the different real world culture influences....the only thing eso desperatly needs (besides weapon dyes of course) os transmogrification....ots just no use having the best looking armors but all useful sets come always in the same styles (80% barbaric for some reason)

The Skinchanger heavy chest piece is indeed spectacular. It's my go to style if I need to craft heavy chest armor.

I like it, I've always gone for that Ultraman look, rubbery wet-suit painted silver to look metal thing. However, every mmo seems to have the same issue where plates aren't rigid but just mapped to the torsion of the body as a sort of extended skin.

I guess it's a taste thing, l like stuff that reminds me of 60's Japanese monster movies, maybe others don't.

Breton heavy armor with the Daggerfall Covenant style heavy helmet. 'Nuff said.

Oh, and the mercenary shield looks great with the above setup as well imo.

On the contrary, I think heavy armor is the only armor that looks good...while light and medium both look pretty bad.

As others have said, it depends on the set.
