Are you built as a tank or DPS? My guess is people hear "stamDK" and think tank so 1H&S.

    Mag Plar

Nearly 100% of my damage comes from Dark Flare spell alone

And I am really happy about that :)

I never understood this. How does Dark Flare spell do so much damage? I have a Templar and I haven't tried it yet, but I looked at the tooltip and I couldn't figure it out.

Kinda sad no one mentioned MagDK :-(
Have your own reliable source of off-balance, keep shields up and use burning embers and one is good to go to solo a lot of the dungeons that don't have anti-solo mechanics.

The only things I can't solo as a Magplar are group dungeons, trials, and some Craglorn content, but I wonder if this is more due to only being 370 CP and having training gear on. lol

Can other Magplars solo the above?

Mag Templar is really good for soloing all time. You start with 3 skills, which are a must have for you and they are useful all time in game.

You can soloing with every class and playstyle. You just need much survivalbility, good area/singletarget DPS and sustain.

This...I soloed Molag Bal just using jabby jabs on my MagPlar.

If I end up in a random dungeon with people that like to stop for 2 minutes after every pull, i love charging in and face tanking groups of mobs to pull the group forward.

This should have been a poll, tbh.

But IMO, by far the best is a Magplar followed closely by the Magsorc. Then I'd have to say Stamsorc is a nice third. Any of those classes will do solo content with an "I win" button.

It's about playstyle, ability, and interest. IMO, I'd try them all and find which one is most comfortable.

Magplar is decent but definitely not the best class for soloing, you will feel it when it comes to high end content. You will be stuck in melee range which means more incoming damage and when 1v1 a boss sweeps don't heal you quite enough now that major mending is gone

Magsorc on the other hand is no doubt the best, best example is how easy it is for them to do vMA which is a end-game solo content...The reason they are so strong is because of hardened ward, 22k shield per cast with non-pet build or even 25-26k on pet-build...as long as you have magicka mobs cannot kill you no matter how hard they try, put ward up and start lighting heavy attacking and bam all the magicka is back, drop some dots here and there even noobs can solo stuff easily...sorc shield is so strong you can stand in boss red circles or eat up a heavy attack and still not die, in other classes if you dont block or dodge roll just wait for ress.

Also now that sorc pets cant tank easily anymore just use a non-pet build if it feels less clunky

Everyone solo's Molag Bal since it's a solo instance.

I did it once at level 12 on my magblade with no armor, no skills and no CP.

It's a very easy fight these days.

dont you need lvl 45 for that quest or is it changed? always leave that quest for when im in my "old" vet lvls

forgetting Magdk? instant 10k heal + ember heals and epic resource restore at the push of a button???

    OP Magdk hands down.

    downsides to the above..

    Magplar..Jabs hard to sustain.
    Magblade..Boring.
    Magsorc..Boring.
StamDK...Well needs 100k AP for it's only real heal.
    Wardens...low damage.

Have you actually played a Templar spamming jabs? Or actually tried to solo something like the Mad Ogre or Wrothgar titan on one? There is more to playing one that standing in ritual mindlessly spamming jabs over and over. Read the OP. new / returning player looking to solo. Saying playing a toon that is actually difficult to master is shite advice, the OP won't have a moondancer set or anything like that nor be likely able to instantly craft any set of use. think more in depth next time.

I solo'd all of the normal 4 mans and all of the Craglorn content with both a Magplar and a Magsorc at 630+ CP without any issues; faceroll. I probably could have done it with both classes at a lower CP and with Training gear, but I never tried. Ofc trails have too many mechanics that would prevent me from soloing them regardless of gear/CP.

Any toon is fine to solo in; just throw on HA. You want higher resist (i.e., spell/physical.) Yes, even a sorc. A sorc is brutal in its own right with light armor and its sick Hardened Ward.. but throw on a good HA on a sorc and/or MagDK and literally just terrorize/rampage through PvE land. Much better survivability (higher resist and good self-heal) for soloing, and HA passive still offers good dps capability, comparably so to the five mediums passive. I see those wearing light and medium sets wiped left and right in boss fights and even at dolmens (when there are fewer numbers fighting.)

That depends on your build nor was I suggesting it takes 20mins for any class to kill trash mobs and delve bosses. Was referring to overland bosses, trial bosses, vet dungeon bosses and the likes. It's safe to assume you're also not 2 shotting those. If you are, then, well, you'll be the 1st person to achieve that. An unkillable stamDK is usually a full on tank (S&B) and most of the ones I've seen in action can do their job fine - survive, but it's usually the other builds/classes that do the faster damage dealing.

You can actually see this playing out in pvp. When I'm running a magplar, most stamDK and magplar encounters end up being a root and heal fest. Not seen that scenario many times against other classes. So many times I've encountered this and it always ends up with the both of us waving at one another and moving on unless players from either faction show up.
