To all those like me who never could get their hands on a sharpened inferno or lightning staff, next patch is when we get the last laugh (if you got anything Nirnhoned >_>). I sure hope none of you were foolish enough to deconstruct any nirnhoned weapons you got. Me? I'm just waiting on the next update to go live, so I can lol so hard at all of the meta slaves who deconstructed any and all nirnhoned weapons that dropped for them.

I have tons of stamina weapons in nirnhoned too (though I also had all stamina weapons in precise and sharpened as well), so my stamina toons shouldn't be caught lacking either. Thanks for this, ZOS. Oh how I shall have a hardy laugh upon the launch of the next update. :D

Stam vMA weapons have not been optimal since the last patch. Though hurray for the changes for the staff users.

Have you tested it on pts?
Judging by patch notes, nothing suggests that nirn would be op next patch... Most likely itll still be behind precise and sharpened.

There are some possibilities though, such as sharpened+thief, precise+pen mundus.

All purples were nirnhoned, and I have multiples of all of them scattered about. My stamina toons are set for PvP or PvE next patch. And my magicka toons as well. Rubbing my hands like Birdman right now. I waited a veeeery long time for this moment.

For months, those with RNG in their favor shined the brightest for being able to get sharpened Maelstrom Infernos with little to no effort at all. Where as the vast majority (myself included) has never even seen 1 in either the final chest or weekly rewards. This went on for months. And finally, those who don't own a sharpened Maelstrom weapon (in my case inferno or lightning) may smile and gleefully roam about. Mwhahahaha! >:)

I really hope they reach a point where more traits are viable and the differences in them are minimal just requiring us to apply the required buffs from different areas.

Either way I am excited that I might be able to use my Nirnhoned Lightning staff at last (though I doubt it because Precise)

In my time of doing VMA I have pulled over 15-20 Sharpened VMA Inferno staffs and only Have 1 sharpened Maul I'll trade everyone for a greatsword.Sharpened still be BIS in PVP and I don't care about PVE like I used to.

Looks like precise will be the new sheriff in town. But all traits seems to be more viable with next patch.

That works just as well. I received a precise lightning staff for my weekly reward not too long ago (like 2 weeks ago). As for stamina builds, I have TONS of stamina precise weapons. 2H, bows, and dual-wield. Lol. So I suppose all that I'm missing is a precise inferno staff.

Your nirnhoned inferno will probably be just fine. Especially with the frontloading CP system. Doesn't take many points to get either 2752 penetration or 9% crit, which makes all three traits more viable for damage dealing.

    This change looks great.

I agree with the possibilites. There is going to be much more variety in stuff with these numbers.

Also my comment was more about sharpened to the other two, as precise and nirn were already within 1% of each other in the average build.

Yep I think it should allow much more diversity. Most of those traits should provide similar results with the right CP allocation.

600+ runs and the only inferno staves I've ever seen have been defending so I'm still screwed, but hey at least there's possibly more options now! And I do have Nirn/Infused/Precise bows for my stam, luckily that seems to be what I'm maining this patch.

Damn bruh. The only staves I've gotten so far that were inferno were: Defending, decisive, infused, nirnhoned, and charged. Not a single precise or sharpened. Not from final chest or weekly reward. Meanwhile... Multiple sharpened ice staves. =_=

You won't need to really. You can adjust now easily, and even if it ends up not being the best setup, it won't probably be too far from it.

I'm pretty stoked too. I have my sharpened but also precise, nirn, and charged. They say in the patch notes that burning should do about double damage now ( along with scaling off magicka AND spell damage) and the buff to nirn adds about 200 spell damage so I want to see if my charged maelstrom inferno paired with my lightning nirnhoned wrecks shop. Might not be BiS but could still be pretty fun

For sure, sharpened is BiS. But that isn't the point anymore, which staff does the most damage isn't the problem. It's now a combination of trait, mundus and cp to hit the required pen.

The best way to do that on PTS atm is precise, lover mundus and 10 points into pen CP.

Nirn on a gold CP 160 staff gives a flat 200 more spell damage. Compare that to how much damage you get from precise and sharpened, and nirn comes out the loser still.
