What is the purpose of under 50 PvP?

Serious question; according to the community what is the purpose of the under 50 PvP Campaign? Is it a server for new players to get their feet wet in PvP and learn the game? Is it for everyone who wants to play PvP without high-end gear, such as monster sets (by starting a new character every time they hit CP rank)? Is it something else?

I have my opinions, but I KNOW there's a lot of people that disagree with me. So I want to know what you guys think.

It's a Campaign to separate the Under-Lvl50 players from all the other higher level and end-game players. You wouldn't have much fun being a Lvl27 with no CP going up against a CP630 with Gold gear right? It's a Campaign for new players, and players with low level characters, to play against others on their level.

Additionally I'd say it is a test ground for new builds before fully committing to golding out armor and weapons pre vet.

You are correct for the most part, @UrbanAvalon.

The majority of non-vet PvP is new players trying to get the hang of Cyrodiil.

There are also PvE and returning players that are just trying to get their Alliance War skills up so that they can unlock Vigor, Warhorn, etc. ... and get out.

There are a handful of players who enjoy the more casual aspect of PvP in non-vet ... which isn't as hardcore as vet PvP.

Finally, unfortunately, there are a few cancerous players that stick around in non-vet PvP without graduating to Vet. These players generally roll (and sometimes delete) multiple characters with min/max gear tiers at every five (5) levels or so ... and frequently get emporer even though they already have the title. The ethics of such players has been debated in past threads and applies to all three (3) Alliances.

Yes to all of those.

I'm there to unlock my alliance war skills and grab skyshards and screw around in IC before I hit vet. It's a lot more forgiving for those of us who do not shine at PvP than the two big campaigns.

For me, it was an easy way to get my alliance skill leveled up. Easy vigor and now I need to get my magicka toons to lvl 4 so I can get purge for HoF -_-

You would be surprised at how many not new pvpers there are in the non vet campaign. I have 4 max vet characters and thanks to some high level friends I made early on I got the hang of the game from the start. I was hoping in haderus in the arena district as soon as I could PvP. By my 3rd character though I decided to go to Blackwater blade. I am now on probably my 18th character that will be deleted and rebuilt just so I can continue pvping in the non vet campaign.
You are probably going to ask why, and the answer is simple. The atmosphere and community in the non vet campaign is very different here. The alliances are more balanced and people actually care about winning the campaign. They arent just there for ap. Sure you have a few alliance hoppers and gank groups and tryhards, but for the most part there guilds and groups in there that pull their alliance together and work toward common goals, the way that PvP in cyrodil was meant to be. If any of you have only experienced vet campaigns I encourage you to bring your next new build into Kyne and type "lfg" in zone chat. You will see a whole new side to PvP.

Below 50 PvP feels much more balanced imo. It's rare to see any stupidly OP builds in there, and I find that the people in them tend to have a friendlier attitude than in the other campaigns.

In my experience non vet pvp is more objective based the groups tend be more focused on playing the map as it was as designed. Considering that response time is greatly limited by slower mounts smart plays and positioning are ultimately key to holding keeps and outposts. Since siege is actually a threat you can accomplish more with less players in defensive situations.

Don't know how many times I've hit players with oils in vet campaigns just to have them shrug it off like nothing even happened.

It's for the PVP folk to level their new alts in! (from lvl10 to lvl50 anyways) I am in a PVP guild that primarily runs in Kyne (formerly BWB) so most of these players have home in the under 50 campaign. I have levelled 12 of my 14 characters in the under 50s campaign.

For those who are using the under 50s campaign to get AP for the Alliance skills... you will get them a lot faster in the vet campaigns where the AP ticks are larger & more frequent. Great campaign to get shards & books though.. most of the time 90% of Cyrodiil is empty of players.

I used to call BWB the "No Meteor" campaign.. but with one tamriel... you started to even see low level builds with mage guild 10 !

It used to be REALLY good PVP IMO. It was more fun than the normal campaigns. Granted, this was a long time ago for me.

I had several characters I deleted when they hit vet ranks and started over, just to stay in what was then called Blackwater Blade.

I like trying new builds and using crafted armor. I'm a total "altaholic". 11 characters and counting. When not doing dungeons or crafting , I'm taking lowbies through BWB. The vet grind is less interesting to me.

I also like the absence of high end gear. Though recently I had a Kyne death recap: Viper, Red Mountain, and Incap Strike.

The question/discussion is if this campaign is meant for new players to learn the game, players that recreate toons to continue playing after reaching CP rank (presumably while keeping/reusing gear) or if it's for both.

1-50 Cyrodil is 100 times more fun than CP pvp these days IMHO.
It defintiely reminds me of pvp @ launch.
Often it seems much more skill based as well without all the crazy unbalanced build sout there.

It's also very good for getting the Cyrodiil collectibles for trophies/achievements. Since you have less players to deal with in general. If you're gonna start a char for all Dolmens/Skyshards it's much easier to do while you can still access the lower level campaign, imo.

The game itself doesn't split that hair, so I'm not sure if it matters whether we do, but ok. Imo it's for both.

I ran a character through NA BwB not long ago, and saw some of the people who notably re-roll to stay in that campaign. Didn't see a single one of them preying on hapless noobs for the lulz. Some of them teach, which is great since the game doesn't tell people jack. All good.

For-real new players are smart to get some PvP experience before they get to vet levels. Also all good.

Reasons for non vet, non CP PVP

- It's kind to newbies (when I say kind, It's better than when you 'think' you've got a good toon, all maxed out, and you are a full time 630CP PvE'er with no PvP experience, and you come to Cyro and think you are going to own, only to have your hat handed to you with your bottom in it)


- It's actually fun (no really, it is fun)
- It's the easiest way to Emp your toon
- You can test builds without to much investment (you can buy low level gear for next to nothing, and test stuff out)
- AP is fast

I assembled a crack team of researchers and intellectuals to crack the case. After countless hours pouring over many books researching this topic at the library of Congress, I am ready to share my findings. The answer is startling! We have found that it's purpose is actually the same as doing anything else in the game, or any game, which is simply for pleasure and to have fun playing a game. I know, it's f'n crazy right?!

There are too many experienced people in Kyne for me to agree it is actually for new players to learn the ropes.

I was grouped up with some teen leveled players the other week and some of them simply left and said they would come back when they were a higher level. Their level should not matter but they simply felt their characters were unable to compete.

There are enough people here saying they think it is more fun, more balanced, easiest way to Emp your toon, to see that some experienced players stay here because it is easier for them to compete. I interpret this to mean that it is easier going up against 'scrubs' and 'noobs' than players who actually know what they are doing in PVP.

My apologies if anyone is offended, but anyone who has taken characters through BWB or Kyne, only to delete them in order to roll a new one through the same campaign, is simply someone who wants an easy time at other peoples expense.

A level 25 player on his first PVP character gets butchered by a level 12 toon belonging to someone who has rolled 10 characters through this 'learners' campaign is only going to learn to hate PVP.

Give new players a true learners area.

and how do you think people learn how to pvp, if everyone is at the same bad level?

People go to under 50 to escape certain things:
ballgroups, lag, proc sets. Sure once in a while you meet one of those, but its 100x less common than on vet camps.
And yes, under 50 is way more balanced. you actually have to decide what skills you wanna use.

And there are more noobs in vet camps than are in under 50 camps!

Your character level matters much less on this campaign due to battle leveling it was a misunderstanding on those players part for not understanding the system that determines max stats/damage. New players have just as much access to crafted and overland gear as experienced players. Gear matters much less on non vet campaign compared to the veteran campaigns.

I won't speak for anyone else but the reason I reroll on Kyne is because of the lack of monster helms/proc sets that plague vet campaigns to no end. You'll find no shortage of threads discussing the overuse of certain sets in the vet meta and simply speaking they have little impact on Kyne making the campaign a better experience overall imo. Your interpretation is false.

This is a common misconception that players have I know many people who reroll on Kyne and none of them are doing this at other players expense. It's actually the opposite, a guild I belong to frequently takes new players in and shows them how to play the map properly giving new players a solid foundation to build upon.

This is more of a L2P issue. If the level 12 wins it is because that player has exceeded the learning curve and gained mastery over the play style while the level 25 player simply has not. As far as a "true learner area" you'll need to elaborate further on this point.
