What the Lag and FPS Issues Mean to a Player Like me

I will speak for myself only. I am an ESO Plus member.

I usually set aside a time when I will play a certain character. I decide how long I want to play based on what leveling I want to do, areas I want to explore, etc.
When I start to see 2-3 FPS and 999+ lag I know enough to just stop and see if it resolves itself. When the numbers get back to normal then I continue. When "Normal" lasts for 5 seconds and reverts to the FPS/Lag issues I stop again and start to lose patience and usually mutter some impolite obscenities. After a couple cycles of this I usually end up quitting.

Anytime you are sending data by any means there will occasionally be issues with lag. This is the nature of the beast. I understand that. What irks me about the performance issues is that before the launch of Morrowind I had zero to a few issues with performance. I have an ATI 7790 1GB video card which is close to the suggested requirements.

Bottom line, the game is basically unplayable when these issues happen. If it is unplayable I am not having fun. I do not need more frustration in my life - I have enough as it is

I honestly do not care how this started, I just want it to be corrected so I can have fun again.

Many of the Forum posts on this issue have offered technical advice on the cause. There are many bright and helpful people here and I hope ZOS is at least reading their comments and testing them as appropriate.

Please, ZOS, find the problem. Even if it not an issue of your equipment or coding, let us know what it is and if you can or cannot fix it.

The biggest problem ZoS has with ESO is their lack of communication with the player base. That alone will harm them more than an unstable server or a game-breaking bug.

I honestly don't think they will ever realize this and it's sad that a game with so much potential could fall to ruin over such an easily fixed problem. Other games have failed because of this - ESO will eventually follow suit if ZoS' treatment of the player base does not change.

    I'll second this.

One of the easiest things they can do is to have an ESO Live episode that once a month details the direction they're are going with the game, how they have addressed player concern/input, and what we can expect as far as bug fixes/QoL concerns. Also, tell us how you're punishing cheaters and bots and I'd say go as far as public shaming them the way other companies do.

Actually take the time to speak with the people that make it possible for you all to get a paycheck.

It's not that hard. I don't care about all these people on the sound team or lore team or what stupid collectible you all are letting a company make - I want to know what you all are doing to make me feel like ESO isn't just another mobile freemium game in its current state.

If they believe it is an issue with an ISP, node, or network outside of their control, they cannot say so because of the potential legal ramifications if they're wrong.

And, all evidence I've seen points exactly to this. It seems to be a routing issue somewhere outside of their network.

I agree. I hope ZoS decides to start being more open. Thats why it was so refreshing when I started playing Overwatch. The Devs are so open to the community. It's like gamers talking to gamers. That's why I feel so many people are still in love with Overwatch. 100% the most engaged community out there. If the ESO team would have a fraction of the openness that the OW team has, it would make a huge difference. The fact that the huge lag issue occurred and the only thing that we got was a tweet saying "we're workin' on it" just really irks me. What's so hard about just talking about it? Even if there isn't anything to talk about or if they don't know what's going on, just SAY it. The worst thing you can do is leave people in the dark. Hopefully they step up and fix their problems.
