We are currently investigating issues some players are having on the North American megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

As I type this, Zeni is doing account and store maintenance for the big marketing event that starts today. They are activating the code to grant ESO+ benefits to all non-subscriber accounts, and calculate free Crown Crates for each day that paid subscribers log in through this coming Sunday. I actually really like the concept of this event. Zeni's ability to execute it well leaves some doubt, based on their history of handling account config changes.


The open question to you all: what do you think they'll accidentally screw up?

Also, What's the O/U that there will be another downtime tonight or tomorrow to fix login issues?

    personally i think the issue will come at the end of the event when a number of eso subbers wont get there crates and will take weeks of stupid automated replies via support tickets to get sorted.

    Let's see. What can go wrong. Not just today, but during the entire event.
    • Everyone who logs in is automatically given ESO Plus, instead of the opt-in that they announced.
    • The event starts at 10am EDT (rule #1) , and you have to log in between midnight EDT and 11:59pm EDT each day to get the Crates (rule #3), but they won't count today between midnight and 10am "because the event has not started yet".
    • People will get the wrong number of Crown Crates on July 19th, when they hand them out, either more or less than they deserve.
    • People who paid for ESO Plus will lose ESO Plus when the event ends
    • People who did not pay for ESO Plus will retain it after the event ends.
    • The trial people will lose everything in the Crafting Bag.

    I agree that every one of these scenarios is a legitimate possibility.

    Too many people log in for the crates and free ESO+ causing the servers to crash or lag so bad that the game is unplayable.

F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

    I missed one!

    People who are already ESO Plus members can sign up for the free Trial. I am deathly afraid to see what happens should someone try. Likely, nothing, but who knows what manner of evil ZOS has in mind for people who do it.

    Once your ESO+ bonus ends you can still pull anything out of your crafting bag but once it's out you can't put it back in. The items stay in your crafting bag until pulled out.


    On another note it seems the lag spikes are currently in progress. I just logged in and was booted in under a minute.

    My guess is the same thing that happens in that situation when a regular ESO+ subscriber does not renew. The items stay there (crafting bag and in excess of bank space) but no more can be added. Once all the items are removed from the craft bag it will simply cease to exist, and the bank will continue to function for withdrawals, but nothing more (items) will be able to be deposited until the inventory is reduced below the pre-trial base number.

    you will no longer be able to add stuff, but you will still have access to it to remove stuff..i will not be lost (wait a minute it should not be lost....would and should, well you know)
