I find these results rather hard to believe. I know of course there are plenty of people who play alone...but 50% of them? Very unlikely. For me, I do play alone...when hunting skyshards and lorebooks, leveling a new toon, etc, or if running vMA, but in the end I spend the majority of my time in PvP, dungeons, trials, or some other play that involves more than just me. Aside from quests and fishing, and decorating, there just isnt that much single player content in this game...especially not after you been playing a year or so in which time you can complete all the single player stuff. Considering trading/buying/selling involves more than one person, you cant even count that.

This is no the majority of the community, keep in mind that the majority of people on the forums are very hardcore casuals who only do PvE questing or that type of stuff and they mainly do it alone.

Doing the quests 1st time on your char is fun. Doing them on the subsequent ones for XP, skill points and zone clear is really a chore. Can't understand how people can derive pleasure from that and play so much time alone.

Some people said they are playing with their wife/friend. Must be said, it's not the MMO when you playing it's solo-able content in coop with another player just for fun.
I definitly could say that I'm playing ESO solo all the time. Yes, I've been fighting anchors and world-bosses with some other people, I've been in PUGs in dungeons, I've played in groups in Cyrodiil... But it dosen't matter. I don't need to make a friends in this game. There's no need to cooparate with guildies and other people almost all the time. You just playing your own game and some people are running here and there doing the same. People in this game are a phrases in chat, they are an item in your guild shop and they are the gold you receive in that shop.
I could say ESO is a coop-game, but it's not a MMO at all.

Funny thing is, I like RPGs, but I hate MMOs. And yet I played GW1, GW2, TERA, and now ESO. I play(ed) them all as if they were single player games.

Yes, yes, I know, "I'm doing it wrong". But I'm still enjoying the game and not having to deal with the drama that other people tend to cause. So maybe I'm actually "doing it right"?

Not that I'm completely opposed to playing with other people. If and when I find a group of people who don't annoy me, and vice versa, I'm open to the idea of occasionally grouping up to do group content. So long as said people realize that it's a limited time thing and that most of the time I prefer to be left alone. Nothing personal.

Whenever I see a poll like this I'm quite surprised that people actually play this game solo. I mean, I don't mind solo players, I just can't imagine how you can prefer questing and other solo content in eso over a proper single player game.

The only situations where I play solo, is when waiting for guild members / friends to come online or when preparing for some multiplayer activity.

I do play proper single player games. I especially like TES single player games. But there hasn't been one since Skyrim, and there's not likely to be another TES single player anytime soon. So I started playing ESO, despite my initial hesitations. To my surprise and delight, it is not necessary to actually communicate with other players in order to enjoy this game. Is it as immersive for a solo player as a game that was specifically designed for solo play? No. Is it as open-ended as one might expect from a TES RPG? No. But it does do a fairly good job of combining massively multiplayer with the traditional TES experience. Which is the only reason why I originally resisted playing - because I was afraid that turning TES into an MMO would ruin the ES experience. I think ZOS has done a decent job of incorporating both concepts into something that is fun and rewarding for both parties.

Not getting into the whole debates about lag / class imbalance / pay to win aspect / etc. that typically plagues ALL games in the genre, and trust me I have been around, there is no such thing as a perfect MMO; you can claim "grass is greener over here" all you want, but the reality is that every MMO forum is filled with countless people complaining about countless things, and at the end of the day it comes down to this: you can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Since taking up ESO almost 2 years ago I haven't touched other games, and even if a single player TES game comes along I won't bother with it. I've played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and they don't even come close. I actually ended up playing fan made mods for the latter two because of the lack of replayability. There can be only so much complexity in a single player game - no economy, no interaction or synergy with other players, no competition. It would simply fall flat compared to a multiplayer game like ESO. This is probably the last game I will ever play because when I quit I will simply not have the energy to take up another one.

Normally friends doesn't really have much to do it with unless someone is still at school or is a bit of a sad case and has no life so spends an inordinate amount of time in a video game, for most adults with a career, kids, a well rounded social life, etc then most of their friends will not even play the game, let alone have schedules to match playing the game at the same time and when they have time to spend with their friends will choose something more social than a video game.

And let's be honest most peoples "friends" in video games that they don't know in real life are not friends at all, other than in a minority of cases they are just very superficial, shallow relationships that don't really qualify as a 'friend' in any meaningful sense.

Your normal being those different from you.
    • Being introverts (roughly 25 to 50% of the human population).
    • Being disabled in some way (which causes one to become isolated in this society whether they like it or not).

Not really, seems you don't understand what the word "normally" means, so sure there are reasons someone who suffers from certain disabilities may find it difficult to do the usual things, but then that isn't 'normally' the situation, it is an edge case, I'm not going to list every single edge case just because you can't grasp what 'normally' means.

That many people are introverts is irrelevant, you don't seem to understand what being introverted means, most introverts have friends (real friends), some even do jobs that require them to be extrovert like acting.

I am sure some people do have close friends online, after all in some cases people get married through meeting in a game or whatever, but that is a minority, most online "relationships" in games are shallow, superficial and don't last beyond the game(s).

Interesting how you've moved from passively attacking entire groups of people to include personal attacks on me. I did not attack you. I did attack your views - those ones which attacked groups of people and put them in boxes.

"Normally" does not mean the majority decides what normal is. Psychology, sociology, anthropology, and even neurology are all sciences dealing with groups of humanity which would take issue with describing a 25 to 50% group as not normal.

Approximately one fifth of the U.S. population has a disability. That's also a number to large for abnormalcy. While not all are unable to go out and about, all are subjected to social norms and actions, such as your arguments, which try to define them.

You also did the same to large groups of teens and those who have strong friendships online. There are a number of easily Googled research polls (I'm looking at a couple from Pew now) which are evidence against that.

I am tired of trying to teach those who unwilling to learn.
