Wrong character stats after race change

Hi guys,

I encountered a severe issue with my main character (Level 50 Sorcerer):

I recently bought a service token and changed the character's race from High Elf to Breton. After doing so, I noticed that all my stats (Max. Magicka, Health and Stamina) are suddenly way too low.

For comparison, I created a new character (same race + class):

My veteran char has the following stats:
Max Magicka: 15.448 (with 39 Points spent on Magicka)
Max Health: 13.559 (with 25 Points spent on Health)
Max Stamina: 9.188 (with 0 Points spent on Stamina)

My newly created Level 1 character has the following stats:
Max Magicka: 15.229
Max Health: 16.407
Max Stamina: 15.229

As you can see, the newly created char has much better stats than my veteran character, although both have the same race and class and the new character has obviously not spent any attribute points yet.

Am I missing something here? Could there be any reason for this?
My main char is a Vampire, but that should have nothing to do with this, shouldn't it?

I assume this is some kind of bug that occurred when I changed my character's race?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Yes it is the combat leveling. The newly created char will get less max in everything as it lvls up. But it will get access to better gear by lvling

Edit : also it is not veteran anymore it is champion.

Thank you very much for the fast reply.

However, I am a little bit confused now. So, just to make sure that I understand you correctly:

Regarding the character stats, a character actually becomes weaker when leveling up?

So - without any equipment - a newly created character with level 1 (who has not spent any attribute points at all) has higher max Magicka, Health, and Stamina than e.g. a level 25 char (who already spent a significant amount of attribute points)?
And the level 25 char has higher stats than a level 30 char, and so on?

So, instead of gaining health, stamina and magicka on each level up, a character actually looses points in these stats whenever he levels up?

This sounds very strange and counter-intuitive to me, so I just want to make sure that I understand this combat leveling system correctly.

A newly created Character appears to get weaker as they level up but it's not truly the case. You are over buffed at low levels to deal with all the cp160 bad guys on the field, since you don't have your passives or many skills.

As you level up the buff is reduced in favor of stronger skills and passives you gain.

Yes That is how it is. When someone reach champion rank for the first time, then that player will feel very weak all of a sudden until the player get proper gear.

I did not know that the leveling system works this way. Always good to learn something new
