It's how I found out about the event, so I don't have an issue with it.

Yes, this is how I feel about it too.

I thought advertising was using gimmicks to make you buy something. This was more of an announcement indicating they were going to do something. And I don't have to do anything any different than I do any other day to collect the rewards. I kinda like it. :)

    WRONG. Advertising is messaging.

How could you have these strong opinions on such trivial matters.

OK. Now let's pretend that they didn't put on the announcement on the forums.

Would you have found out about the event on time? How?

If you hadn't found out, would you have been mad that you missed this opportunity?

I actually found out about the event hours before with twitter. Which I do use to stay up to date with things. Anything that lands on the forums is almost always old information or somehow inaccurate.

And no. I wouldnt be mad because the event isnt really an event. Anyone logging in this long after the release of Morrowind is likely a regular player that logs daily anyway. Which Im willing to bet are also the type that subs anyway. And since its a known fact that the forums is also not a large portion of the community, are usually the regulars that play the game not just daily but for many more hours than casuals that come and go. Those here, or at least the majority would not have missed it anyway because theyd be logging anyway. If the forums is your go to place for information. Youre either not that interested in news about the game or youre confused about how to actually seek out where to get that news.

You take the biscuit, really you do, you complain about a one time notification on the forums, while you boldly state you already knew about it from Twitter, you're being a little hypocritical finding stuff out via a social media platform that is all about self promotion, marketing and has more adds than skyreach catacombs and then you come here and see a one time notification and actually have the gall to complain about it.

But if they go somewhere else, they might run into a horrifying advertisement about cookies for sale or something! Argghhh, the world is such a terrible place!

As Jessica explained earlier today, they are testing a new method to announce events in the forums. It is not really advertising and it is just once per browser. Though I do wish it was smaller on mobile.

Its advertising the event. You can try and create some alternative facts so you can get around that. But it is ADVERTISING. And Ive heard this "once per" nonsense before. We were told the advertising in game would be once but it has become something that constantly pops up even when theres nothing new in the store. Id prefer that this site avoids the crappy pop ups. Its cheap and obnoxious.

It has not popped up a second time per browser in over 36 hours. I guess someone can make a big deal out of something small but it is fairly small thing we are talking about.

So, making a thread is making a big thing out of a small thing? I guess everyone should keep their opinions to themselves and run their ideas for threads past you and Darklore in the future? Wouldnt want to upset you now. Obviously its important that opinions and ideas only be shared if their of the approved variety.

Your right. I did complain about a one time ad. But I dont expect you to be honest here. So Ill fill in where you obviously left off, I also stated fully that I dont come to these forums for ads and that that is my issue with it. But dont let me stop you from creating your own narrative.

You can have the biscuit back. Its quite stale.

I do NOT want pop ups unrelated to the website I'm on...for a company to make quick use of a pop up to promote their own stuff is totally fine by me.

100% this...What I DON'T like is a popup for Coors Beer, or the next great movie/TV series pop up that's completely unrelated to the site I'm on.

If I'm on a site making a purchase and I get a popup that I can get free shipping if I spend X amount, great. You may get me to buy extra stuff just for the free shipping. That's how popups should work.

i gotta be honest - i love reading the evolution/devolution of these threads...

basically they start out with OP noticing something amiss with something eso related - and quickly turn in to some kind of defend your thought and then a poop throwing contest ensues...

always interesting to see how different OP's handle the situation :)

Clearly making a thread about it is not the same as making a big deal out of a small thing.

It's your content of your comments you have made in the thread I was referring to. As is clear by other replies in this thread that maybe you have gone a little over the top on this subject. Again, not because you created the thread itself.
