Long time ESO+ player here. Been playing ESO from mid 2015. Got flawless title on my main character from Maelstrom even though I would describe myself more of a casual player (love a good challenge at times though).
TOP gaming experience issues in ESO endgame: No challenge for max cp players outside dungeons and trials. RNG can be a bit too harsh. Character build system needs a bit more depth (IMO).
Improvement ideas:
Remove level requirements from gear grafting materials and add additional material specific properties to make them relevant again:
e,g,
void cloth armor: +500 magicka resist, +50% magicka enchant effect
rubedite ingot armor: +500 cold resist, +50% health enchant effect
iron ingot armor: -100 lightning resist, +50% physical resist, -10% enchant effects
rubedite ingot weapon: 3% critical chance, -150 weapon dmg
nightwood weapon: -3% critical chance, +150 spell dmg
dwarwen ingot weapon: -3% critical chance, +150 spell dmg
Add challenge for max cp players outside dungeons and trials:
Add veteran difficulty to public dungeons:
-Bosses can drop armor pieces with special class skill specific armor enchantments:
e.g. fiery grip enchantment: 100% chance to taunt the target for 15 sec.; adds 1500 maximum magicka;
crystal shard enchantment: stuns target for additional 3sec.; adds 1500 maximum magicka.
Add token system for account bound set items and class skill enchantments which allows us to get gear pieces in fair amount of grind and at the same time keeps content relevant:
New game items:
-Set blueprints (/set essence)
-Class skill glyphs (/class skill glyph fragments)
-Undaunted restorative blueprint scroll
-Undaunted restorative glyph scroll
-Undaunted crafting station
Set blueprints:
-Can be used to craft a set gear piece on a special undaunted clave crafting station.
-Account bound item.
Class skill glyphs:
-Can be used to give a weapon skill specific enchant to weapon and class skill specific enchantment to armor.
-In case of Maelstrom glyph enchanted weapon will be also converted to dwemer style (=Maelstrom weapon style)
-Original gear set (if any), trait, and quality will carry over to the enchanted gear.
-Account bound item.
Undaunted restorative blueprint scroll:
-Undaunted restorative blueprint scroll can be bought from Undaunted clave merchant.
-100 set essences can be combined to set blueprint in inventory by using Undaunted restorative blueprint scroll (in same manner as imperial motif fragments can be combined to imperial motif pieces using Merethic Restorative Resin).
Undaunted restorative glyph scroll:
-Undaunted restorative glyph scroll can be bought from Undaunted clave merchant.
-30 class skill glyph fragments can be combined to class skill glyph in inventory by using Undaunted restorative glyph scroll.
Set essence:
-Deconstructing account bound set weapon or armor has a change to yield set essences.
-Deconstructing yield chances: 95% chance to yield at least one set essence. 25% chance to yield 2 set essences. 15% chance to yield 3 set essences.
-Account bound item.
Class skill glyph fragments:
-Deconstructing weapon or armor with class skill enchantment has a change to yield Class skill glyph fragments.
-Deconstructing yield chances: 95% chance to yield at least one Class skill glyph fragment. 25% chance to yield 2 Class skill glyph fragments. 15% chance to yield 3 Class skill glyph fragments.
-Account bound item.
E.g. With this token system in place you would get your maelstrom BIS weapon of choise in about 15-30 maelstrom runs which would take about 20h of your playing time. However the token system would also allow convert set weapons to Maelstrom weapons making them new BIS weapons. Also when new better sets will be added to the game Maelstrom weapon with that better set bonus will become new BIS at that point and you will need to grind your Maelstrom weapon again.
Maelstrom Arena would stay relevant and stil would allow anybody skilled enough to beat Maelstrom to get his BIS Maelstrom weapon of choise in fair amount of grind. And after getting weapon of choice some might keep farming these Maelstrom Glyph fragments for future needs.
In case of set pieces when new materials will be added to the game you might need to grind a set again if the material has better properties than what is BIS for that set atm.
