The other night i went into Shor and noticed a large AD group sieging Chalman, and then started heading for Blue Road, and all the rest of the Imperial City keeps were already yellow. I mentioned in chat, "Is AD pushing Emperor?" to which i got a "Yeah, just let them depose." Of course i questioned this. "Why?" To that someone else simply chimed in,

"ArchMikem = EP"

I was called out as being for the Pact, in the Pact zone chat. Why would he say that in chat? What was the guy, a spy or collaborator calling me out to his other cohorts? Letting others know i may get in the way of letting AD have their way?

As someone who has toons in all alliances, I was thinking about the best way for me to take them all into the same PVP campaign without feeling or looking like a traitor. Not that I would intentionally do anything that might be wrong but switching sides just feels awkward.

My decision was to not play different alliance characters in the same open campaign. If I take an EP character into a current 7 day campaign, I wait for the current campaign to be over before I take my AD character into the 'same' 7 day campaign.

between the toxicity, the lag, and the proc sets, its just not that fun anymore.

The spying is not the issue as Xbox party chat can also be used for spying.

The issue is the players switching toons whenever to fill up text chat with crap.

On Xbox, mute doesn't work, so you see all their crap.

Text chat is now toxic chat.

No i don't like PvP now because of what it's become. Years of macro-slicing, zergfesting, mechanic exploiting, CE memory injecting has just made it a complete unenjoyable experience. I turned away from the whole game for 3 months or so because of a reflection of how it had ruined the experience. I would return and probably enjoy it again if all the main issues are fixed. That's completely unrelated to this post though - this is about player ethics, not what's wrong with PvP in it's current state.. that's a whole other topic which has been covered in a thousand different threads.

The truth is in war soldiers do defect and change side and so I'm not against people switching during a campaign. However, there does need to be limits introduced on how often and when players should be allowed to switch sides.

My suggestion would be a player can switch PvP alliance once per campaign, within the first 10 days. That way if a player changes sides it's "permanent" for the next 20/30 days. All characters from the old alliance or the 3rd alliance won't be able to enter PvP until the end of the campaign.

It's early enough in a campaign that switching sides might not guarantee the win. Plus it means if you have the option to switch if you plan to play with a different guild for the duration of a campaign. Players can still switch but it's much more restricted.
