....reset a public dungeon? or can you only do them once a day? because that would suck.

all mobs in public dungeons respawn, respawn times become shorter and shorter the more players are around so not sure what you mean.

Public dungeons can be done as often you like and as long you like, very common to farm them either for xp or gear.
As OP says enemies including bosses respawn.
Be aware that they are popular so you will find lots of other players in them at prime time.
its an cooldown on how often you can loot the bosses even if they spam more often, think its 10 minutes.

Do the quests reset? ege. a certain quest on a certain island that gives you certain things to make a certain robe thingy.

What dungeon are we talking about?

Generally quests do not reset unless they're daily/weekly repeatable quests(in which case they will reset daily/weekly). There're some exceptions like TG "dailies" which you can take as many as you like in a row but that's about it. Public dungeon quests are one-time quests but public dungeons monsters respawn really really fast.

If you're talking about the Sixth House Robe, you don't need the quest for that. Just farm Forgotten Wastes and you can get pieces from mobs and bosses.

You can drop an quest and redo it, however not after getting the reward.
But if you did an choice you did not like or messed up on an heist quest you can drop it and do it over.

I know, but I believe that's not what OP meant. You can reset a quest as long as you haven't given it in(can drop it even if you already technically finished it and are on getting reward window, long as you don't accept that last one), but not after.

OP, if you do indeed mean Sixth House Robe it's not associated to quests. Just kill (trash) mobs in that dungeon to get the parts. There is, as far as I'm concerned, no cooldown, it's just rng. You can also buy them from/trade them with other players.

You can't really "reset" a Public Dungeon. They are open to everyone. The bosses respawn on a timer (most of the time) or if you kill enough trash mobs around them (I do this anyway while waiting for xp and loot).

But public dungeons there is no reset feature.
