I haven't player for awhile and haven't posted for even longer. Last week I logged on and yesterday I decided to run some dungeons. Basic stuff, normals, because I'm under CP300.

The character I was using does not have the most optimal build. She's a Bosmer, DW/DW Nightblade. I picked up the Undaunted daily and it was Wayrest I. So I pulled a group from zone chat and we ended up with three DPS and a healer. We decided to run it anyway, even though no tank. I ended up tanking by using an undaunted taunt: the second time ever I've tanked and the first with a squishy DPS.

We finished the dungeon, of course, without a problem. (I know: you can sweep Wayrest I with a broom.) That's not the point. Thing is: we had fun. We enjoyed the experience. There wasn't someone in the group telling us how to play or acting like the universe revolved around them. (Contrast: the last dungeon I ran before leaving the game for a bit. A sorcerer kill-it-all joined the group, ran ahead of everyone, killed all the mobs - seriously all of them including the bosses - and then, at the end, stood laughing at us saying, "See that, f*ckwads, I just killed all the mobs.")

After Wayrest, I queued up again. Crypt of Hearts I, maybe my favorite dungeon. Again, another good group, including two players who didn't even have CPs. I died once, our tank dropped a couple of times, but it was no problem. (Our healer was still learning the ropes.) We finished and afterwards three of us stayed, talking for a bit about the game, Morrowind, etc. Again, it wasn't the supreme accomplishment that made the moment enjoyable, it was the very pleasant social experience.

This is why I play ESO. If I want a challenging gaming experience, I'll exit and load up Dark Souls. I know this is nothing more than a cash farm for Zenimax. But there are moments when the game is actually fun.

The post was kinda nice till the last paragraph :/

Some people enjoy both the easy and hard content and the pricing strategy has not a lot to do with the post.

    Me too. Loved your story!
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Sorry, but I've played this game for a long, long time and if you think pricing strategy and the manner in which Zenimax chooses to make money (Crown Crates, I'm looking at you) has "not a lot to do" with players enjoyment of the game, I am here to tell you I completely disagree.

I am talking about people's behaviour in dungeons though. Crown crates (which I am against) don't affect the behaviour of players in the dungeons. In any case, I also agree that people can have more fun together if they only try to cooperate instead of antagonise each other, like in one of your examples (where one player ran ahead and killed everything)

And I disagree with that. I agree that crown crates don't directly effect a particular player's behavior in a dungeon or in the game overall, they do affect who is in the player base.

Since the introduction of crown crates, and other pricing decisions by Zenimax, a number of people who I really enjoyed playing with have left the game completely - not "take a break," but completely cancelled their accounts. There is one person I'm thinking of who was very active on the forums, very helpful, a genuinely decent guy who I enjoyed talking to and playing with.

He's gone now. And the reason he's gone is Zenimax's pricing decisions. He won't support them. And the more people like him that leave, the less people there are that will be genuine, be nice and be friendly. At one point, after running several dungeons in which ever group was infected by a selfish *** or someone who was just too good to play with the rest of us, I was convinced the game was going downhill and so I left for awhile.

It was nice to come back and find some other nice people here. That was my point.

So yes, I believe that how a MMO prices and sells it's content has a direct effect on the attitude of the people who play it.

Yeah, a lot of good people stopped playing because of the crown store. But does it really change the overall player base?

I think there are some other things going on, too. A number of people - even some of my nephews - have come over to ESO from WoW. So there's a lot of new players and younger players. And some of those that I've met seem to have a different attitude. I find I play a lot more with zone chat turned off - some people's kids. But it can't really be blamed on the Crown Store or how Zenimax sells its product. That's happens every time you decide to fire up an MMO.

Running PUGs has always been a risky business. Just join a guild. And hey, I happen to know one you can join! Then you can make new friends (or reacquaint yourself with old ones :) ) and your experiences will improve.

This is why I love dungeons and particularly healing. It's great fun completing content as a team with people from all walks who play all sorts of characters.

I'm guilty of telling people what to do, but hopefully I don't boss anyone around. More advice on how the game/bosses work. But I'm not fussy on how everyone plays their characters and have completed dungeons with some really eccentric teams.

Those pros? Usually firmly adhering to a meta/archetype and competent enough, but the real skill is found with those who have some really outlandish styles. Failure, in my experience, happens when the meta is unable to adapt. Usually accompanied by shouty language. People generally get shouty when they don't understand something and have no desire to try to.
Currently obsessed with battlegrounds. Spamming here between rounds. Sometimes, when forums are particularly good, I skip ballerina around*

problem with mmo:s you end up getting variety of ppl> those whose real life is miserable, and they need to make others feel it too, then you get these goody shoes who are awesome but omfg they are shite. then there are these fecking op cheese godmode folks who just need the others to tell them that wow you rock you are hot, otherwise they just feel *** and sulk. and then are these purist/racist/extremist type folks who dont accept just anyone to run with them dungeon.

my story, i once run dungeons with this gay guy. he was damn fecking annoying, he had to always talk about it how he is gay and if someone reacted negatively, he ended up sulking for ages. took me months to teach him that he isnt the center of the world. he kind of got it but he was always such an damn ***. anyway, eventually he met this another gay, similarly to him, he thought he was the center of the world. luckily or happily for them both, they felt some soul spirit between each other, met and left the game, as they wanted to be alone.

this left me thinking... ... lol what the *** just did happen, this guy, utter ***, but so fecking good, unable to play with others except me ( i am quite tolerant ) and occasionally some random. the random usually just remained quiet during all the ranting and the professional explanation of each damn boss. basicly he micromanaged the whole group.

anyway, when he met very similar person, it turned his world upside down, he become quite pleasant person suddenly, and then bit more away and they both gone from the game. i mean good for them!
