What platform/server are you on? If it's PC NA a few AD guilds have decided to make Kyne home and run on a regular basis during prime time hours. Your best bet is play during off hours and try to find your niche I recently rolled a DC toon after two weeks of AD winning uncontested campaigns. I enjoy the challenge of trying to empower my allies to fight back and not give up just because AD has numbers more often than not.

Keep in mind that a few determined players with siege, positioning, and a bit of luck can wipe a much larger group trying to take a keep. Sometimes numbers are a disadvantage I've personally caused an entire raid to dismount by CCing someone on a mount, knocking a guy off another mount and playing LOS games and that group failed to reinforce a keep they were riding to protect because they lost sight of the bigger picture.

No way to over power 50 with a small group if they charge and play well

Fifty players is two full raids plus stacked. I'd be more worried about 500+ ping and my ultimate firing ten seconds later with that many players in one place. Also no battle is a guarantee that you'll succeed, but yes a smaller group can, has and will sometimes wipe a much larger group I've seen it and done it many times. Don't under estimate the power of counter siege especially cold fire and oils over a front door.

When one faction has a clear population advantage it makes sense to plan for defense. It's a bit of psychology but when you believe that a zerg ball group is unstoppable you'll try to reinforce that bias any way you can. Reality is, a group like that is one or two wipes away from logging out for the night. And when the numbers are even the tide of battle turns in the other direction.

Under 50 is fun but not equal numbers . I moved my new toon to Vivec and Sotha Sil cause I don't like running over small groups . Needs to be promoted more .

Vet pvp is rarely equal numbers in my experience.

I'll note a couple other things I've noticed about non vet pvp. Most templars don't have access to purify yet so cleansing dots is a bit of an issue. Also siege shields are much rarer to come across. Larger groups tend to get over confident and push the front door, which is strategically the best place for defenders to set up shop. Slow mounts are very common so response time increases across the board.

Wish more players would home non vet it feels nice not running into proc sets and monster helms every single encounter. Down side is acquiring gear every six levels or so.
