Unauthorized Microsoft Charges

I just took a look at one my credit card statements (the one on file with Xbox One online) and found that Microsoft charge my account 5 times in May for a total of $195.00. I didn't authorize a single one of these charges. Has anyone suffered this sort of fraud at the hands of the mighty Microsoft? It's impossible to contact this company and they don't send you an itemized statement showing what they're using OUR money for. I cancelled my card which will mean that I'll likely be kicked off line until I provide them with a new one. I see that they in the months of April, May, and June they charged my card $14.99 about every two weeks. In May they charged my card for several higher amounts as well.

Any suggestions as to how to keep Microsoft honest or is that a lost cause?

I think that is a Microsoft forum question as 2/3rds of this forum is not playing this game via MS

If MS is charging your CC like that, why would you expect the ESO forums to know anything about it? Unless the charges are explicitly listed as being from Z0$.....
I'm not prejudiced; I hate everyone equally !

    It was a simple question:

Is anyone else having this problem. If you're not having this problem then you need not comment.

There are many ESO players that use Microsoft Xbox One or Microsoft PC so the question is valid for those thousands of folks who are forced to deal with Microsoft.

They have phone support. Call them and see what's up.

They put you on hold then forward your call to another department who also puts you on hold. I simply cancelled my card and will have another one sent.

In all fairness to the one you quoted, these forums are for discussions about ESO - not just anything at all. ZOS doesn't run a general "talk about anything you want" board here. If so, I might as well start asking about tires and gas prices - I'm sure plenty here have cars, no? Any one have a roof? What kind is it and do you like it? I might need a new one, so let me know. And what about that new iPhone that's coming out? Anyone thinking about buying one (ESO runs on Apple stuff so on topic and all)? All simple questions, right? And I'm sure "valid" for far more here than what you are asking. But that would be wasting everyone's time who was expecting to read/respond to a post about ESO - so I'll be courteous and not post that crap here.

In all fairness ... the title of this particular section of the forum is "General" ESO discussions. Since Microsoft is directly related to MY ESO experience it falls under "general" since, without Microsoft, I wouldn't currently be able to play ESO. See the connection?

My apartment building's elevators sometimes goo too fast and end up using the emergency brake. Has anyone here had any similar experiences with Schindler Elevators?

I can't help with your problem specifically, but I have had similar issues in the past. Here's what I now do to prevent cases like this...

Don't give your actual bank / credit info online:
    1. Get a prepaid debit / credit card (visa, amex, etc).
    2. Then link that prepaid card to your Paypal account.
    3. Load small amounts of money onto the card when needed.
    4. Then use your Paypal account to make online purchases.

Now the merchant has to go through Paypal first, and there will only be a small amount of funds available to use. Seeing that someone has charged $50 to your prepaid card isn't nearly as bad as someone cleaning out your bank account or ruining your credit.

    Good luck.

Do you have a child/significant other/roommate/parents or anyone else in your household capable of buying things over your Xbox or other Microsoft-based machinery/software?

Regardless, you were wise to cut the card before anything else happened. Be sure to try and dispute the charges as well.

Additionally: Don't be surprised if a mod shuts this thread down. It's only tangentially related to ESO (it would be like me asking the same question but with Steam/Valve in place of Microsoft), and in your posts you're taking a specific attitude that makes it appear as though you're attempting to troll people into a "microsoft shills" v.s. "woke freedom fighters" argument (it's in italics for a reason, don't assume I'm saying that you are actually doing this. That would be highly disingenuous)
If you quote someone, and intend for them to see what you have said, be sure to Mention them with @[insert name].

In an effort to appease them who are worried about the topic of this thread, let me amend my opening post:

Are there any ESO players who happen to use Microsoft as the conduit by which they participate in the game who are having any problems with said conduit. I'm only asking ESO players who happen to deal with Microsoft during ESO game play. ESO members who happen to deal with Microsoft need reply. The topic is not for other players who do NOT deal with Microsoft.

This is a "general" ESO question for ESO players who happen to deal with Microsoft. :)

My attitude only changed when other members showed "attitude" in response to a really simply and non-attitudinal question.

If you DID start a thread about Steam/Valve I would hope that someone could help you with your quest for an answer. I wouldn't pop in just to disrupt the thread with non-thread related comments.

Thanks for a really cool reply. That's the sort of thing I was looking for. Folks helping folks.

That's a really good idea as well. I think you found a solution to my problem. Thank you.

No problem. The advice may not solve your current issue, but knowing it may help in the future.
