MASSIVE ping spikes (Oceanic Player)

Greetings,

Lag has been running rampant for many Oceanic players for a VERY long time, I started playing on the 25th of December 2015 and not once have I enjoyed a game that has has a stable connection. I figured enough is enough so I have decided to attempt to address this issue.
Most oceanic players play on a ping of 200+, I personally play on 250+ on a good day. As of late (since SoH) myself and many others have been struck by massive ping spikes - I got motivated to make this post because I was getting ping spikes up to 700 consistently, I've even hit 10000 ping 3 times in just 20 minutes.


I mainly reside in PvP where some of you may recognize me as @Horizon-NZ, as you can see I play from New Zealand, Ping has made me a very toxic player, I'm constantly getting killed through roll dodge by abilities that are not DoTs, I refuse to stick with my mag sorc for long periods of time due to the very noticeable delay of bar swapping and the abilities themselves.
Prime time is a nightmare - I have rage quit multiple times due to ping. This problem isn't only in PvP too, as I said before I was hitting 10k ping, that was in Stonefalls. Trials are painful to play due to lag, 70% of the time I'm fighting lag instead of mobs. vMA should be sold as a Quit Gaming Therapy, I hate doing vMA, got my flawless on 12 clears and have very rarely done it after that, a combination of lag and simply broken mechanics is a load of BS. Housing also gives me huge ping spikes of the same variety of vMA, I actually get better ping in PvP than SOLO instances...

Anyways I would appreciate if ZOS could show some hope to oceanic players.

Yeah, it's been exceptionally bad in pvp on weekends lately. Literally unplayable even outside of battles, in no cp. I've had some luck with stabilizing and lowering my pig with Mudfish, a vpn, but even that hasn't helped with the lag which I assume is server based. I usually check in zone to see if I'm the only one, and if people playing from NA are getting lag as well. It's not just me, though my experience is usually far worse. NA players bad days are usually on par with an average day for me.

I've spent most of my online time in my house (Cavern) and the ping is insane I actually logged the other night because I couldn't take the constant 250ish ping jumping to 4k/6k/8k/etc. It was so constant, a matter of seconds between spikes it was impossible to do anything.

It's been worse since Morrowind IMO.

Right now Craglorn seems to be down on the US server. It started with 10 seconds break of connections and now you just get an error message if you try to port into craglorn..... which is kind of annoying when you have to deliver writs.

I'm also from New Zealand and rarely have problems with lag. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Keeping my fingers crossed ZOS looks into this for the ones who are not so lucky.

You are not the only one here, I got 250ish in open,but when I jumped into battleground it is like 400ish, unplayable for sure?
pvp? are you kidding me?
And my eperience mostly from pve since I am a heavy pve player. The most horrible experience i got is from vMA, I have stuck in vMA last boss for a long time, because the lag spike or whatever u call it. it is like 260~300ms, looks ok, however, I have encountered so many bugs I could not explain:
1. Skill stuck, like u have to re-cast skills to actually gain the buff, and since the UI support for ESO sucks big time it is hard to judge if the buff is actually on or not
2. action bar/action stuck, you could change bar or run but could not attack, mostly happen when I pressed the key too fast(AC) I think, also your attack could not be registered sometime, and yet zos think their such laggy game is ok with AC...what a joke!
3. damage box, occasionally you have to be few more steps out of the red circle to make the system judge you are actually out, and sometime even I did will still get the dmg from it.
4. Sudden nuke, just you think you have avoided the incoming damage, the next second you will get nuked but multiple skills all happened in the same second...
5. there are more to add, like you rolled out to avoid the heavy attack but still you will get killed by it etc

Maybe I am a stamina class player, all those issues have became more and more unbearable for me, especially in vMA. In raid, the environment is horrible too, the lags! the overlapping skill effects! low fps! not to mention there are so many Catastrophic game breaking bugs and worthless grinding, also the extreme unbalance game-breaking "balancing" changes happened later on, I am feeling I am forced to play range magicka class. it is more like suffering instead of challenging and fun.
I Have played for 2 years, have Stamblade, stamsorc, stamplar, DK forced to change to magDK, MagSorc and another stamsorc are not fully geared yet, only reached CP632, but i think i am done, the more I play the more I got disgusted by ESO
I think this ZOS has really wasted a great title, and I am done with it. If you want my stuff, sure you could have them all, pst me with offer thank you~;P btw my membership is till to oct.

I think thats what your called rage-quit, actually ESO is the first game that have created so much negative experience for me and makes me feel like quitting the game for good, in my 30years gaming life, even the division didnt reach this scale....sigh, and I am an elder scrolls fans, it is really serious sucks!

The best any of these 'gaming VPNs' will do is smooth out your latency by changing the path between you and the server. Physics dictates your latency. The kilometres between Aus/NZ to the US basically means at a minimum 200 ms latency.

OP, do you have any 'network-enhancing' software installed? My issues turned out to be due to some ASUS-supplied network software. I wasn't even using it, it being installed was enough to case seriously erratic latency, issues with skills not firing, bar swapping, roll dodging, etc. I uninstalled it and it was immediately better.

Oceanic player here always have a ping of at least 350 and that is a good ping for me. PvP and dueling is totally out of the question. Would be nice if they gave us a server in this part of the world, the Oceanic market is huge and they are missing a business opportunity by not doing so.
