Would like suggestions from people with experience doing this. Was thinking maybe necro/lich/illambris is fine but I really have little pvp experience on my sorcerer and just in general. It needs to be effective at farming and surviving ganks. Thanks!!

I spend all day in the IC, and my go-to build is very simple: 5 Necropotence + 5 Shacklebreaker + 1 Bloodspawn. 5-1-1 armor for the Undaunted bonus. Cost reduction enchant on the neck, spell damage on the rings. Blue food. Serpent mundus. I use Spell Power pots so that I have room on my back bar for Dark Conversion instead of Surge. This build his pretty hard, but depends on intelligent management of Stamina and Magicka. Since I use the Twilight for heals, I don't slot Healing Ward.

When farming tel var always run imperial physique

    5 physique, 5 lich, 2 willpower
5 physique 5 necro, 1pc regen monster set
5 physique, 2 Bloodspawn, 3 willpower VMA inferno
    5 physique 5 amber 1 Kena
    5 physique 5 riposte 1 Kena, VMA
    All of those are viable.

The necro build will be ~60k magika with inner light iirc, this makes investing in bastion a very strong defensive option.

    I'd probably run amber/Kena or BS/willpower/vma

Resto ult is your anti-gank tool. You won't need to ult to kill sweepers so it should always be up.

Another easy way to farm stones, if it hasn't been changed, which I first saw @vamp_emily post about. Roll a mageblade, get to level 10, craft some seducer, join the dark brotherhood, go to IC and use blade of woe from stealth on NPCs. It's basically no exp but it's virtually risk free farming

Pretty much the same as mine, but I'm using witchmothers drink for more base mag recov and the mage mundus instead. Oh and infernal rather than bloodspawn. It's a bit more max-mag focussed, less stam recov.
I guess it shows ways to easily tweak a build with just a few minor changes :-)
    Minalan owes me a beer.

Witchmother / necro / physique definitely. Getting physique in perfect traits and armor type might take a while but it will be worth it.

You can just buy impen physique pieces for 5k tel var each? In light/medium/heavy too

I don't know, haven't visited the merchants there in ages. As far as I know it used to be boxes before and then you'd hope to get what you want (I bought a lot of pieces in guild stores because of this).

But then if the op is wanting it to farm tel-var, I suspect he doesn't have it to buy imperial physique in the first place!

Yeah you can definitely buy all body pieces in impen off the vendor, I think now the boxes give any piece in any trait (including weapons and jewels to I think)

True, but you can go into cyrodil and ask to buy tel var, someone will buy the pieces you need an then trade them for gold, however much you've agreed
