This is in regards to magicka based Damage Shields (not blocking or anything).
This is the general Idea:
There would be two categories of shields, a Barrier class, and an Aegis class.
Barriers:
Categorized by large Spherical Projections of Energy.
These are generally weaker, due to their size and distance from the player.
Cannot be Crit (One Uniform Object), Prevents Status Effects on the Player While Active (Distanced From Player)
Cannot be buffed with Current Dodge Chance (big ass shield can't dodge) or Current Protection Buffs (Balancing).
Blocking will do zilch.
Scale more Heavily with Max Magicka
Counters Crit Based and DoT builds.
Countered by Burst Damage and Oblivion Damage
Aegis:
Categorized by magicka projections about the body.
These are sturdier, as it's closer to the body
Partial Damage Pass-through (Hugging the body)
Can be Crit (differing form about the body), DoTs Force through (Hugging the Body), Does not Prevent Status Effects
Can be buffed with Protection, and Dodge Chance
Blocking will reduce Pass-Through Damage
Scale more Heavily with Spell Damage
Counters Raw Damage/ initial Burst Builds.
Countered by Crits/DoTs
