With sleeves that go to the wrist, a bit floppy at the wrist but not like bells would be nice.

I completely agree with this. Indeed, the vast majority of armours and robes in this game are products of over design.
If I had my way the armours and robes themselves would be very basic and functional, with maybe belts, talisman and trophy slots where you could add things to spice them up a bit. Perhaps even putting rare talismans and trophies which are attached to achievements earnable in the game. Would be a good way to personalise armour other than just different colours.

✭✭✭✭✭As someone else said, the Sixth House robes that came with Morrowind look incredible, and they'd dye black just fine. That's the costume you get after you collect seven pieces for it from a public dungeon (the northernmost one).0 -

Also this black dye doesn't even look like black, it's more like dark grey. Dark Brotherhood robe dyed with the same color is much more black.1 -

iirc its obsidian black, from expert deconstructor, that gives a true deep black.
eta: here's a coldharbor black cuirass with obsidian black everything else
