Degeneration or Molten Armaments?

Which would be the most efficient and logical to use within an open world PvP environment for a solo'ing MagDK damage dealer?

Degeneration:
Bind an enemy with chaotic magic, dealing X Magic Damage over X seconds and healing you for X Health and an additional X health every X seconds. While active, your Light and Heavy Attacks against the enemy have a 15% chance to heal you for 123% of the damage caused. Grants you Major Sorcery, increasing your Spell Damage by 20% for X seconds.

Molten Armaments:
Charge you and your allies' weapons with volcanic power to gain Major Sorcerer, increasing your Spell Damage by 20% for X seconds. Your own damage with fully-charged Heavy Attacks is increased by 40% while active.

    Do you have a staff?

Just out of pure preference myself i like molten because it lasts a lot longer and i've always like being able to self buff sorcery rather than need a target.

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

they are both good, but if you will get surrounded a lot degeneration is better because you can put it on a whole lot of different enemies at the same time, plus max magicka boost and empower

for ganking or ranged, molten armaments is better

    Molten Armaments, because...
Degeneration is low cost and a DoT (Skoria procs), but the heal is basically negligible.

Molten Armaments is an incredible skill.

The duration is really good, and the 40% Heavy Attack damage is an *amazing* benefit. This is all besides the fact that it can help your unbuffed allies in a similar way to a Warden's Ice Cloak. It even returns Stamina thanks to your passives on cast.

Def go with Molten Armaments unless you find yourself never casting Heavy Attacks.

I don't play mag dk but almost every one I have fought uses degeneration. That being said almost off of them were S&B or DW and resto builds, so they were never heavy attacking, plus the empower for either a meteor or a leap can help massively with your burst capabilities.

... it is WAY cheaper, procs Skoria, empowers your Ultimate, gets the Job done. Molten is *** and since you said "Open World PVP" you not gonna run a staff xD -> no heavy attacks.

Meteor can't be empowered by another mages guild skill, it simply refreshes the empower, as you get an empower from meteor from the same source.

Why is structured entropy not an option?
Anyway, id say that if you have igneous shield slotted then you should use structured entropy. IS will give you the earthern heart passives and you'll probably cast it far more often.
Structured entropy is great for surviving bursts. That 8% health and 2% magicka is no joke and the dot can proc Skoria. Plus the extra magicka and the mag regen are greatly appreciated.
