What to do with my Templar?

Greetings all,
I just recently came back to ESO for Morrowind and I started working on a Warden but just don't really like the feel of the class. So I hoped on my max level Templar and I was just overwhelmed because apparently I was trying my hand at healing when I last played and all my gear was a big mess so I looked up some guides on a solid build for my character.
There is so much information out there and there's no telling how old it is and then doing some research I read alot about how terrible stamina users are but then I read about how stamina users are only ones capable of high level damage so at this point I am really confused and I just don't know what the current meta is like and where the best place is to find up-to-date information.
My Templar is an Imperial so I figured he would be best suited to a stamina build right? Are Templar's viable as tanks? Is Magicka better for DD than Stamina? And if so, will I be shunned from any veteran content if a bring an Imperial in as a magicka user?
Am I just too far behind now to find a spot with a solid group running end game content? I am at Champion level 72. Anyways, wasn't sure the best place to post this but anyone willing to help out a returning player like myself it would be much appreciated.
