Help with Templar

so ive been working on my Templar but i having a bit of trouble with it, could be because im early into the game but sill a bit of help wouldn't hurt. i plan to do a lot of dungeons and pvp. im using light armor, destro staff, and all points into magicka. im interested in using heavy armor and swords, im not too fond of sword n board. i'd also prefer to stick to dps and not heal or tanking. any help would be appreciated.

Don't wear heavy. Well, a heavy monster helm won't hurt tbh. I have a magplar that I use for endgame PvE and trials. I run lightning staff(Masters) or dual wield willpower swords front bar, and backbar inferno staff(Maelstrom). 5 light julianos, 1 light grothdar shoulder, 1 heavy grothdarr head. 3 moondancer jewelry. Average about 34k dps, but I'm not 100% perfect on tests.
