Underwater Exploration

So when is Zenimax going to add underwater exploration? This was one of the best things in the Elder Scrolls games, especially in Morrowind, finding underwater tombs and so forth. They can't argue technical limitations since old school WoW enable you to swim underwater.

They can and they will argue technical limitations. ESO was not designed to have flying mounts or underwater travel.

Argoinions can breathe under water so they will be OP compared to lesser races.

thats rubbish, it can't be that hard to do underwater. Besides, it goes against the lore AND staying faithful to the franchise to not have underwater locations.

*gasp* Since it's already broke then, does this mean we can finally have dragon mounts now?!

Well no dragon or flying, that wouldn't be right for the lore as already stated, but still underwater would be great. There wouldn't be underwater combat, it would just be great to have underwater exploration just like in the other Elder Scrolls games.

Underwater is generally boring. It's slow, combat is terrible, navigation is difficult, and there can never be as much to do as on land.

It was boring in oblivion, it was boring in skyrim.

The only really good underwater part in either of those games was the Cheydinhal Mages Guild Recommendation Quest - and it was really short!

WoW wasn't designed with flying mounts in mind, they weren't added till much later.

And yes to underwater content, as long as there is content :)

Yeah there's no reason underwater content couldn't be added, and those people who find it 'boring' don't have to do it. Elder Scrolls games have always been about choice and exploration, so anyone who wants that content should have it if they choose. And it would be challenging and rewarding to have, like in the original Morrowind, tombs that can only be reached by going through underwater to get to them.

Yeah, it would be nice, but them Khajiits would be protesting and rioting cause kitties don't like water or to get their furs wet. So, them kitties would not be able to explore underwater like the other classes.

I think GW2 is the best example of underwater environments in an mmo, and something I really love about that game. I also think it's simple laziness that ESO didn't even attempt something similar.

I know what I mean, but mine is the irl deep water and near drowning. In some games I feel very uncomfortable going underwater if it's too cloudy and muddy (Skyrim and San Andreas for example) but if it's crystal clear I have no issues.

Anyway, going underwater will be very nice, now the question is, can the engine support this? Maybe it can with some work. Also, will slaughterfishes be replaced on some areas with something else? I'll like to swim from Malabar Tor to Gold Coast because there are less than 100m of water between them, but how the players without DB DLC will be stopped on a more elegant way than an invisible pay wall? Sometimes when you start with an idea and work around it for a while is hard to step back from it.

I don't know what games you played, but in Morrowind AND Oblivion you could fight underwater, and I specifically remember quests in both games involving swimming long distances (Morrowind) and getting stuck underwater/fighting slaughterfish (Oblivion).
