Can't login Error 201

Hi, it's been a few weeks since I last played, and I do not own Morrowind upgrade.

I tried to login and I get an error 201. I have checked that ESO (both 64 and 32), the Launcher and Steam are all exceptions in my Windows 10 Firewall. I also have them as exceptions in Windows Defender. I have tried running repair and I have verified I can login to my account online which is a different account/login from this forum. I've also tried running the launcher "as administrator".

So, do I need to buy Morrowind to keep playing the base game?

Someone else who had error 201 said resetting his router fixed it. See this thread........... https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/322003/error-201-cant-login

    Also, there is this...... https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2006/kw/200:7:1:1021:597

I tried resetting my router. The second link explains how to do what I already did with exceptions for my firewall/AV.

Well, talked to Comcast, they verified the port forwarding I had setup already for my router and are saying the issue isn't on their end.

Something else I notice is that the launcher and login page don't load announcements, on the login it actually says "Could not retrieve announcements" so I'm definitely not connecting.

Have you tried "repair" on the launcher?

There is no requirement to own Morrowind in order to play the game.

If you're running the game through Steam then be aware that it does cause a lot of issues currently, it would seem. You might want to try running the game directly from the .exe file and also checking the Steam forum to see if there's a discussion there about it (as well as the PC Technical Support forum here of course).

EDIT: It seems from the PC Technical Support forum that players on the east coast of the US are unable to play and getting an error 201 message, but I don't know if that's still ongoing or, of course, where you're playing from.

So no idea what, but I had left the launcher open on one screen while doing my normal stuff (pretending to work I guess). Anyway, after some time the announcements on the launcher popped in so I tried loginning in and magically things worked. Nothing had been restarted this time.

For reference I run the game outside of steam as I rarely buy games from that platform (ie: only Skyborn and Shadowrun are my only games from there).

Started doing it again today. Nothing changed on my system. I was on the fence about buying the Morrowind expansion; I guess this makes the decision for me.
