Crowns Give Away

MysticCrit
Is it just me or should The Elder Scrolls Online have a give away of 750, 1500, and 3000 crowns a month or every 2 months and you have to be a an account owner and a forums member i think it is a great idea you can sign up to win each one and Elder Scrolls Online should randomly pick a winner i think it would show new players that you can get crowns without buying them and it would hook people in ya eso is great they give out free crowns each week you should get the game i think it would make people want to be more active and give it a better feel tell me what you think and i am a new player so this is my first post thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this

No. Crown value is already diluted due to the several sales they have. Costs in the crown store have been going up non stop because of this. This would only add fuel to an already big bonfire.

  • MysticCrit
Medusasfolly I think if they were to give out free crowns it would make them less valuable there for putting out the fire and thanks for the reply i appreciate it alot

Also based on other competitions they have had not all parts of the world are allowed to join in so causes bad vibes between people and eso :<

    Less value = higher prices

So those who don't buy crowns on sale or those who don't win will have to pay a lot more than usual

Nope. I would like it, but I would never win. Would even think they would let a bot win, because they don't check crowns or the forums anyway.

    Also, punctuation, please.

Not trying to say your idea is bad or anything, it would be great :) But ZOS will have to make their losses up somewhere since they're a business after all

They do giveaways on ESO live which are sometimes crown packs, and sometimes even real life goodies like plushies and stuff

(I gave you awesomes because you responded politely to the replies unlike most people on here who would just insult anyone who doesn't agree with them. So nice to see positive discussions here :) )

I'd rather see small, time-restricted ways to earn crowns in game--like 100 a month or so.

I'd wager it might even drive sales, as people end up with like 300 crowns after a few months of playing, but need to buy a pack to actually get anything interesting--plus you could use it to incentivize player behavior/content that you want to see more active.

Thanks Voxicity I know about the giveaways but i think they should have something more wide some people cant get to a computer at that one time i want something anyone and everyone can do. but thanks for the feedback
  • MysticCrit
Deadly i think that is a bad idea that is giving it to everyone making it worthless
  • MysticCrit
So far i just want to thank all for responding and being possitive. :)

If you want give a away, they happen roughly every two weeks, Friday evening (EU) on Bethesda Twitch.

It's this special show called ESO Live.

You can also partake in the special events they run from time to time for fun or promotion of the game.

As for giving them away for the sake of giving them away each month, maybe not.

I just see it leading to higher prices for the items in the crown store. Sure those who win will need to spend less money to get the crowns they need but it screws over everyone else who didn't win.

The more crowns in circulation the more crowns a mount a will cost. Even if it's just to ensure that the 'free' crowns don't lose them any money. It's a business, nothing is truely free.
  • MysticCrit
Thanks CTS i do not think that it would do anything becasue it is only once a month and only 3 winners but i know what your saying ill take this into account thanks for the reply
  • MysticCrit

You have 3 sentences in one sentence with no punctuation. Then there is the original post.

Non stop is not quite true. The Dwemer spider mount was only 3000 crowns for a completely new mount type. Other limited time mounts have costed 4000 crowns.

However, your general point stands and I do believe the reason morrowind costs $$ is to stop diluting crowns and hopefully might be part of the reason the newer stuff has seemed a tad more reasonable. We shall see next month though.

I remember an old game I used to play years ago that would let you watch adverts to earn special currency which you otherwise would have to buy.

Maybe doing a similar thing could be worth considering? Could keep it all linked to your forum account and crowns are deposited based on where your account is located (PS4/PC or XBOX). Probably more trouble than its worth but trivial amounts like 50 crowns an ad might help folk who are a few short earn the difference (rather than having to put off buying what they want until the monthly 1500 crowns come in). Could even stick in a max amount of times it could be done per day/week or month. It would create another income stream for ESO/Zenimax through sponsors and give players a chance to earn crowns for free.

Idk, if it works for other games its obviously a viable model I'd maybe question if it would be perceived as 'tacky' for a franchise as big as TES.

I am quite fine with crown store inflation because it likely would never change the cost of DLC. Sure, if you are in to vanity items or houses, there seems to be inflation. But not with DLC. DLC became very cheap once they had that first crown sale the week Orsinium launched.

I suspect the crashing value of crowns was a major reason for making most the of new content in a year (since chapter > dungeons + 10hr dlc) not obtainable through crowns. That is unfortunate, but that ship has sailed. I'm all for making crowns easier to acquire.

Awesomely bad punctuation. No full stops, let alone anything less obvious. I gave up after the first couple of lines!

I don't like the idea of a lottery, but I do like the idea of being able to earn in-game extra's (tophies, titles, costumes, etc.?) through creative contests. Like community prompts for building add-ons, creating digital or traditional fan-art and other cool stuff, of which the winners could be awarded a trophy to show off in their home, or a title that shows they're a recognized (by ZOS & ESO community, at least) artist, etc.. Small stuff, things that people might like to show off their creative skills with, but nothing that could disrupt the in-game economy - as you'd not be able to trade/sell these prizes.
