Mournoth keep vs Forsaken stronghold

I'm having second thoughts on which house I should buy. At first I wanted forsaken stronghold, but now I feel like mournoth keep can satisfy my needs as well. I want to buy either house for Werewolf gatherings, with my WW guild.

Mournoth keep is about three times cheaper, and is very close to a wayshrine, which is a nice bonus, but there is just about enough space to create a small arena / practice ground, and it's right in front of the entrance. It would feel like having to enter a Lion's cage in order to get to the visitors side to watch them.

Forsaken stronghold is much bigger, has a lot of outside space for a duel arena, and I have alot more options and ideas to properly decorate the inside. BUT: It's too big. I'm no subscriber, and I don't plan to ever subscribe. On one hand, I think that for what I'm aiming to create, 300 would be enough. But on the other hand, I fear that as I keep decorating, more ideas will pop up, but I won't have any space left by then.

So what do you guys recommend I should go for? And why?
If you own either of these houses, are you satisfied with it?
And share pictures of your house, if you want to convince me into picking one over the other. Images are better than words in this situation.

I personally own Forsaken Stronghold, though I have not worked extensively on decorating it. A lot of why I went and bought it was the easy access to a particular crafted set that I personally use quite a bit. That said, there are a lot of nice extras in the Forsaken Stronghold that are well worth looking at, including the tower that I had initially intended for a crafting setup. I will say that subscribing to ESO+ is one of the best decisions I ever made (though I made it as soon as it went buy to play, as I felt that the game offered me quite a bit regardless, and I wanted to support it). I have barely even begun to touch the number of things I can put in the Forsaken Stronghold at this stage, and I do like its setup (It was the first house I purchased).

Before even voting, I have a question: how many people can you receive in both the houses? Same amount? Not sure what size your pack is, but that would be my number 1 concern.

@Arciris that is one thing I haven't considered. Thanks for mentioning it.
If my source is correct, both allow up to 12 characters.

Edit: As for my pack size, we have about 120 members. Since I'm not an Alpha or other higher up (yet :p) and not everyone is online at the same time, 12 is certainly enough, 8 is the minimum I expect.

Both houses can hold a maximum of 12 people, I just checked on the PTS (and I believe that's the same whether you have ESO+ or not).

There's 3 spots in Mournoth Keep I think you could hold duels without being right in front of the entrance:
    1) Up the stairs to the left of the entrance. That would allow people to watch from the walkway on the upper level, safely out of the way of the fight, which makes it the best choice IMO.
    2) On the upper level of the courtyard, next to the house. It's a bit of an odd shaped space and there would be less room for spectators but it could still work.
    3) the big room on the right side of the ground floor. Again it's not much space and spectators would have to stand along the wall but it could work.

Forsaken Stronghold definitely has more space and more options for building a dueling arena though, or an arena and a practice room. On the other hand it is more expensive and with only 100 extra items you might struggle to decorate it.

Not for nothing, but Hunding's Palatial Hall should have been a manor class with a title. that house and yard is jsut as big if not bigger than the manors. .

I have both. I prefer Mournoth for two reasons. There is an excellent area up the steps to the left for a crafting area and a place for my Assistants. I can place all the crafting stations and not feel cramped. It is also just steps to the entrance. The home is not super big inside that I feel I will never get it furnished, but roomy enough that I can do things with it. Currently converting it over to Breton Style, ironic as that is. I don't have to use tons of plants to make it feel landscaped either.

Forsaken does have more curb appeal, and larger grounds, but I have decided that I don't want to spend all that much time running around the grounds of my house to do stuff. It is nice home and if it had a wayshrine just out side the gates, it might have won the nod. It does not and the nearest Wayshrine is a slog to get to.

But, bottom line, Mournoth is my primary home simply because the location of the Wayshrine.

Oh, and if your primary concern is Dueling, you might check out Gorinor house in Grahtwood, probably some of the most extensive grounds in the game, and priced between the two you are looking at.

This is worth repeating. Forsaken Stronghold is huge, and it's great bang for your buck--bigger and less expensive than some of the actual manors... but that size comes at a price, and part of it is the fact that it takes forever to circumnavigate. If you're a werewolf, you're likely a stamina build, so it shouldn't be too excruciating, but magicka builds run out of sprint pretty quickly in these houses. XD

That said, I do personally prefer the Forsaken Stronghold. There are lots of little nooks and crannies that appeal to me--two levels of a watchtower, two levels of balcony space, a little section of lower land tucked away from the rest of the grounds, and a little corridor behind the interior stairs. Lots of possibilities, though you'll feel that furnishing cap a lot more keenly in a place this big than you will on Mournoth.

Both are great buys, though, so go with your gut.

I bought Mournoth Keep and am currently sharing it with 3 other people as decorators (I'm really the main decorator though, they just move the crafting stations if they become unusable sometimes). I have not regret my purchase ONCE. Not only is there a wayshrine outside, but also a dolmen and occasionally a fishing spot. I also use the area outside to the left up the stairs for our main crafting area so we don't all need to go all over the place to decon and use the bank (working on getting a fence and merchant) for the purposes of actually playing the game, this is perfect. No one even goes inside the house, but I havent gotten a chance to fully decorate the inside anyways. For dueling and such, I have a target dummy to the right of the entrance right beside the well I've placed in it. I actually have been using it to test out my newly respecced warden's builds and I must say it's a nice roomy area considering my friends might not wanna hit the target, I fell I have enough room to test builds here.
Anither appeal is how CHEAP this house is. It's a huge house for ~1/3 the price of other houses in a similar size category. With the money I saved on getting just the house, I was also able to furnish it for the same price as another base house of the same size. If you bought this house, I can assure you, you won't regret it one bit :)

NP :) If both can hold the same amount of wolves :p I would go with the cheapest one. Unless you're swimming in millions of gold of course.
The reason is that I found out the hard way that furnishing a house is often a lot more expensive than buying one, especially if you like the achievement furnishings
When I'll get to the game I will check Mournoth to check for possible arenas building areas.

I did forget to mention, there is a WW Shrine just around the corner from Forsaken. In fact, as the crow flies, it is right behind the Home. But, you can't get to it, even if you build a ramp. You have to go around the mountain to get to it.

Mournoth is really the only home that appealed to me for a reasonable amount of gold. The wayshrine is nice and for my modest housing needs its a good size. I haven't even filled it yet.
I was certainly not paying more than that for no storage, especially since its not a priority anytime soon.

    Mournoth.

Foresaken Stronghold is way too big to decorate with 600 items. Medium houses are the way too go (although Mournoth is also big for a medium home, so you might even have trouble there).

I bought a large house (Strident Springs) when Homestead launched, but decorating it fully has been impossible.

First of all, thank you guys for your opinions. This is a rather long post, so there's a Too long; didn't read part on the bottom.

Now, in regards to efficiency, all that matters is there's enough space to duel and to build a decent arena for it. But for anything else, I would only buy houses for the roleplaying aspect of it. Anything efficient about a house (close to craft stations / wayshrines / merchants / ..., special area for craft stations, ...) is a plus, but I'd prefer another race-style for those.

However, since I'm more set on a RP house, the Stronghold seems like a better choice. If it's true that there's a Werewolf shrine pretty close, than that would be a real plus for me. It may still be a walk around the mountains, but that's okay, we'll know it's close.

The more I keep thinking about it and the more I keep inspecting both houses, the more I keep leaning back towards the stronghold. There's more outdoor space. Werewolves need to feel free, not cramped up. Especially with those that went for pack leader and are accompanied by two wolves.

I may still underestimate the furnishing limit, but I realized that I should aim for a more primal decoration. After trying to furnish it in my head, I think I can manage to achieve this with only 300 slots. I don't intend to furnish the inside all to detailed, but even so, I can think of ways to decorate the stronghold inside. But I have no vision of how I want to decorate the inside of the keep.
In the stronghold, I can make a little gathering room for feasting or as a resting place and upstairs could be for the higher ups or as some kind of courthouse. In the keep, I don't really see any of these happen, because it just looks too small for that (I know, they're houses, not castles). So I don't want everything filled, I rather have a larger open area for running, with that feeling of freedom, rather than decent open area for chilling, while feeling cozy.

In regards to the price, yes, the stronghold is very expensive for what it's really worth (houses being overall useless in comparisson to getting that ultimate gear, bag/bank/horse upgrades, ...), but even then, with what the stronghold provides, I'm pretty sure I can make a plan B for it, and turn it into something else. I don't think I can use the keep for anything else but werewolf purposes. To me, that's what the Orc style could be used best for.
The keep still looks good as a crafting area, but I imagine the stronghold can make a much better place for that as well.

    Too long; Didn't read:
I don't think I will ever be dissappointed if I buy Forsaken Stronghold, whereas I fear that I will end up using Mournoth Keep as a +300.000 gold wayshrine.

So again, thanks for giving your opinions on it. It gave me the insight I needed to make the choice.

It is one of those Pod style homes though.

Just wanted to say that I have considered this, and I may buy it as a customizable forest, zen garden, or even WW roleplay too, but for my current werewolf plans, those pods won't do it. My higher ups often show up nicely dressed at certain guild events. I can't possibly tell them they can wait and prepare in silence in one of those things.

    mmo-fashion is my source

The dolmen would actually be another reason for me to not buy it. From the roleplay perspective, I don't want to leave my house or live in one, that is constantly being threatened by those monsters. And I know you can't hear the sounds because it's instanced, but again, from roleplay perspective, how am I supposed to sleep with all those achors dropping all the time?

And lastly, I usually don't run dolmens alot. There are more fun and more profitable things I can do. If, for example, it was close to a public dungeon like Vile Manse (which is a gold mine) I will sure buy it.
