Do a mini ESO Live during each maintenance

Give people something interactive and ESO related to be involved in during maintenance times.

Suggestions for topics: Talk us through patch notes, play the PTS, do questions and answers (as lots of the Ask Us Anything thread gets missed out in the usual ESO Live, there's hundreds of pages of possible content here alone), more accessible estimated times of maintenance completion for people eager to get back in the game, webcams of team working during maintenance to get some banter going with the community.

This is a really good idea! I would love for them to also show off some community creations in the mean time as well. It can be pretty much an anything goes show, since it doesn't matter whats shown, as long as its something interesting while the maintenance is happening. Live updates on the progress of the maintenance is also awesome.

What would be a "mini-ESO-live" ?
A normal ESO live lasts 1 to 2 hours max, a maintenance lasts usually 5-6 hours, so it wouldn't be a mini ESO Live, it would be a giant-ESO-live...
Do you mean that we would not have any particular requirement in terms of content or quality and that we would just be happy to see ZOS staff chatting around the coffee machine ? We both know that we wouldn't. And that we would be critical of anything and everything.
It sounds like ... "c'mon, you don't have to dress up or anything, just let me watch you naked in your bathroom" ;-)
Also, don't forget that ZOS is currently working on stuff that we will only get to see in 6 to 24 months, if not more. It means that all their communication needs to be carefully prepared and calibrated around what we are supposed to know at this point in time and strictly separated from the rest. No space for improvisation here.

The issue would be that they would have to pull people off actual work to do this.

Jessica and Gina wouldn't be able to do their regular jobs (patch notes, answering questions on forums, running around the office like maniacs etc.).

How about you simply enjoy the Real World and do some other stuff while that time? I dunno, it's the perfect time to take a shower, call up your mom or GF to wish them a good day, read up all the post or mail you got last week and haven'T got the time to read because of playing ESO, plenty of stuff to do that you don't need ZoS to help you do stuff while the game is being offline. This ain't The Matrix, life still goes on when ESO VR life is off. I take this time to read up forums. So many people seems that their entire life depends on ESO that they go on and ask ZoS team to make their entire life aswell depends on the game to entertain them while the game is offline. I find this sad a bit for you guys. But it'S your right to ask more.

You answered you own question. A normal one lasts 1-2 hours, a 'mini' one would be shorter. That's blatantly obvious. Maybe half an hour. I don't expect them to try and keep something interesting for 5-6 hours (or however long the entire maintenance takes), that's never going to happen. People are paying for ESO+ though for example and sometimes don't have access to the game outside of regular weekly maintenance (such as this). I'm not saying give us a full organised show as I understand that most maintenance times are aimed to be during off peak hours, I'm just saying 'give us something' for a few of these lost hours.

I like this idea. Live stream the maintenance. Show us how hard they're working.

Reveal the patch notes word for word during maintenance time to keep the forum entertained. Stretch it along that time, white static in between words. Make people guess the remaining time when they measure the time of static. #plixhiremeifyouwantabetterbusinessmodelhowareyoueveninbusinessanymore

This sort of thread isn't always directly asked specifically just for the benefit of the person that created it. There are quite a few people on the forums right now for whatever reason (I myself have 1 hour left to kill before my shift at work starts), and threads popping up complaining that there's more maintenance. It's simply a suggestion for ZoS to give some kind of content for these times where the game is unexpectedly offline.

It would be cool tho if they did this since whenever they do eso live, i almost always working. (I'm a chef so friday nights are typically busy for me. dont remember the last time i had a weekend off xD)

Yeah this is another reason it would be useful, as it could happen at different times, and give people a chance to see an ESO Live for once.

And yes, you could say "well they can play other games or do anything at all on the whole internet", that's true, but this is just a little something that could be there for players who would love an ESO fix while they wait for the game to come back online

Would also be really great for highlighting changes made during maintenance. Which would be great.

I've been considering picking up another MMO for these times, although it would be like the only time I would play it xD the final fantasy mmo. I played it for a weekend, never touched it since xD

Firstly, let ZOS staff do their job instead of babysitting players during maintenance. It is also worth mentioning that most maintenances are performed when ZOS folks are still in their REM sleep.

Secondly, people really don't have any other things to do IRL that they need to be entertained when they can't play the game for some time?
