Selfishness of Battlegrounds game modes.

Ok I'm just gonna lay it down here. Every game mode but domination is full of very selfish very shady gameplay. Death match and capture the flags scoring system needs a serious tweak.

Death match you have sorcs with there auto execute which is annoying because 90% of the times you have a guy dead to rights and boom some sorc who's like 50 feet away in another fight gets the kill. Not a big deal if the kill wasn't almost all the points. Tanks and healers get no love or points if that is there only role in the fights.

Capture the flag promotes very selfish play as in who gets to cap the flags which is %90 of the points in the fight. How about every flag capture players within a radius of flag holder gets points. Kinda like scrolls captures in campaign.

    Not to mention there's plenty of people that just don't give a crap about CTF, and therefore they'll be fighting 24/7 with zero care about the objective.

    I don't blame the individual. I blame ZOS for forcing them to play a game mode they could care less about.

    I agree completely! All I really want to play is Death match but I can live with domination. The crazy thing is that I can only get capture the flag matches I had 9 in a row earlier it was annoying as ****.

    I hate CTF, I dont want to have anything to do with CTF !

    I spoil the fun for the other guys when am in CTF because I dont care and go on my way to have fights.

    Pls let us choose !

    Kill and assist have the same amount of medals. So it's not a problem if this sorc plays for your team. And if you have already farmed paragon achievement ;)

    I'm fairly confident assist medals are worthless than kills. I have more than double the amount of my teammates kills in assists but I still am placed lower on the leaderboards

    I like CTF a lot because as a tank it gives me a pretty big advantage. Just roll on in there like a wrecking ball, get the flag, and roll on out.

    I think that's great and all but the point system is all out of whack. You litteraly have to cap all 5 flags to get purple gear and I'm not sure if that would even get you purp. Plus what about the defenders who try and help team by killing incoming flag runners. It's like 50 points for defense or something.

    This is kinda what I was talking about as well in the o.p. It really takes the teamwork out of the whole thing at least if you want to score well. It promotes selfish flag grabbers while everyone else gets scraps.

    I feel kinda bad in CTF because of the people I play with, I'm the fastest and tankiest, so I always get the flags and they end up with very few points.

    In CTF you should get points for pickup, drop off, defending flag from enemies (killing them near it), killing flag carriers, returning flag, and escorting a flag carrier.

    Dominiation should give point ticks while capturing as well as when the capture finishes. One of my pet peeves in a lot of FPS games, you stand on the flag and right before it's captured get killed, another player runs up at last second and gets all the points. Battlefield did a good job of fixing this by giving points on intervals and then "bonus" on capture.

    In all game modes you should get points for kills and assists based on damage done. Say a kill is worth 100 points and you do 90% of the damage and someone else gets the kill, you should get 90 points.

    I also find it odd, that in CTF and Domination, the most points are by playing objective, but the final score screen only shows kills, deaths and assists.

    The whole kill/death thing for domination and CTF is amusing to me i agree something else showing how you contributed would be nice.

    The scoring in all 3 game modes is laughable, yet people want it to become the new competitive pvp.
    1. CTF is a wonky mess--the scoring makes sense, but most people don't play the score. Plus it turns into a competition of who can score points of the weakest fastest.
    2. TDM is a killstealing game, thats all. Needs to award 1 point to team with most damage done to that player, and 1 point to team with killing blow.
    3. Domination tends to reward the team that avoids fights (or at least fights the least).

    It's fun! Sometimes! But the current rulesets will never be competitive, regardless of perceived balance.

    In Deathmatch killing blow gives 100 in your personal medal score and 5 (or 8?) in team score. Assist - 100 personal medal score and 0 in team score.
    But in some condition you can earn extra medals for kill - triple kill, quadrple kill, super sexy kill etc.

    you know, I was actually just thinking about the capture the flag scoring yesterday.

    Here's the story, because the servers are down and I'm bored. I cant remember what color I was, so lets just say I was on the purple team.

    SO the game starts out, I solo queued, and am assuming everyone else did too. I do my usual "/p Hi" to the group, but no one responds. OK. No big deal. I guess we're all just going to do our own thing, which means we might lose, but whatever.

    I rush to one of the opposing team's relics, lets say it was green, grab it, then see the notification that my team's purple relic was grabbed by the orange team. I look at the compass / map while i'm still trying to run back to my relic area and see that three of my team mates are right on top of our stolen relic, so I figure they're going to get it back and I'll just wait at my relic area to cap the one I grabbed.

    So I'm waiting at my purple team's relic area for a couple minutes, with the green relic, with no one else around. Then the green team comes in to try and get their relic back. Being the outstanding tanky proctato of a Stam Warden that I am, I successfully 1 v X and am the last one standing, still holding the green relic, waiting for my own team to return our relic so I can score one for the good guys.

    But nope. My team dies, and orange captures our relic. Ok, not a big deal, I'll just wait for our purple relic to respawn and then cap green's.

    While I'm waiting, green is rushing back in to get their relic, but this time my dead purple mates are respawning too. SO with their help, we manage to wipe out green again. But now, orange is back, and we're all low resources from fighting off green. Needless to say, orange wipes us out. So, no points for us. Then the orange team grabs our relic again AND the green relic that I had stolen.

    Luckily, my respawn timer is fast, and I'm back in after a couple seconds. I see a cluster f**k of green, purple, orange fighting at our relic point, but ignore that because the orange guy carrying our relic is already running for the hills. I chase him, gap close a few times, start getting his health down, and then see a notification that the green relic was returned to its spawn point. But now the rest of orange is on top of me. So I'm scrambling to stay alive while trying to dps down the purple relic carrier.

    Then I see the notification that my team just grabbed the green relic again. I guess they figured they already lost the points to orange and they're thinking ahead for when our relic respawns. Seems reasonable.

    Fortunately, I'm still beating down the opposing relic bearer while tanking and roll dodging through his team mates attempts to protect him. And luckily again, just before my health completely runs out, I kill the relic bearer, return our team's relic, then die in a hail of glory.

    Our team captures green to get on the scoreboard.

    Outstanding. So since orange is more of a threat than green, after I respawn, I starting running towards their relic.. On the way, I run into them trying to beat down 2 of my purple mates. Good thing my warden healing ultimate is so awesome. I plop it down on my two team mates, who were pretty much dead, then jump in the fight and start beating down orange. Its three of us against four of them, but again, i'm a tanky proctato so I keep orange busy while one of the other purple guys takes the initiative to go grab the orange relic. Good thinking.

    While orange is trying to beat me down, my man carrying the orange relic speeds past us. He eventually scores, and the orange team eventually kills me. But hey, I'll take another one for the team if it helps to put us on the scoreboard.

    After I respawn again, I'm thinking, might as well try for green relic again. So i start heading that way. I get to the green relic to see another cluster of orange purple green duking it out. I plop down my healing ultimate for my guys, and start going after the orange guy who grabbed the green relic. Poor green never stood a chance.

    Sorc bombs are going off left and right, Dk roots are hitting me, Proc blades are cloaking in and out of the fight, but I manage to kill the orange guy who had green's relic. Then I die, but not before I see that one of my purple mates, the guy who scored last time, grabbed green's relic.

    I respawn. 17 second timer this time, but I jump down to our spot just in time to fight off orange who is trying to kill my man with the green relic. He scores, I kill some more orange, but green is here now. So I die again because my healing ultimate isn't up and I'm out of resources thanks to orange. But we scored, so its all good.

    Eventually, we win the match.

    However, even though I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have won without my being there to be an awesome tanky proctato, even with the most amount of kills on my team, I was still ranked at the bottom of the purple score board. A guy with no kills was the number one spot. He also had the most deaths.

    And yeah, I may have exaggerated a few details here and there, but the point is, I should have scored the most points. Because I'm awesome.
