Did I Just Buy From a Bot/Botter?

I was in Craglorn and had seen in zone chat that a user was selling a LOT of mats for dirt cheap. So naturally, I went along with it and got it. I then get a friend request from them, and accept. Only to look and see that they had no other friends. Their language spoken was Chinese as the main language, and they appeared to have no trophies at all. Come to think of it, their level was pretty low as well (Lv.11 in Craglorn selling hella mats lol).

So anyway, was that a bot/botter I just did business with? And if so, do all bots sell stuff absolutely dirt cheap like that? Because if so, damn bruh. That's the plug right there. Lol.

I don't believe you can see other people's friends lists?

On PS4 you can. You simply just bring-up the person's profile, and then view their friends. It'll show who they have as a friend, which of their friends is a mutual friend of yours', etc. The only exception is if they have it set to private. In which case you can only view mutual friends, if memory serves me correctly.

@Rahotu I don't quite understand your snarky comments, but you can view another person's friends by simply bringing up their profile (if they play on PS4).

Look at the price of gold improvement items for blacksmithing versus clothcraft. If you have a bot problem such as the one PC has had going on since before November there will be a large difference. Leather farming bots are rampant on nearly every single map listed in the game and little to nothing happens when reports are sent in.

Always be suspicious when people want to sell huge amount of rawmats (or if you see a huge amount of rawmats in a guildstore). Don´t buy it, it´s most likely from a bot, at least on PC-EU.

The other week, going through a guildstore seeing a player Selling:

    4k rawhide scraps
    4k rubedo leahter

and a bit further down I see the same person Selling 250 dreugh wax........

    Seems legit :expressionless:

This player is probably using 1 or more botaccounts and then just transfer the mats to his main to sell them. But signs like this is often a sign of a person using a botaccount.

Sells like a bot, smells like a bot, it's a bot - or some sort of botmaster.

Do not feed the bots by purchasing their wares. Only purchase quality goods directly from your local khajiit merchant yes.

Also probably report the traveller and let the bot squishing immortals do their stuff yes - or not.

I just lapped them up lol

You just supported a gold/mat farming bot. Do you feel good about yourself? Next time you see a bot train you know it is there because you bought stuff from that bot in Craglorn.

Let´s say that you can get 800-1k rawmats with 1 hour of really efficiant farming during the best circomstances (at least that´s what I can manage to do). A stack (200) is often Worth slightly more than the gold temper you can get from each raw mat.

When I see someone Selling 7-8k raw mats at the same time in a guildstore.....Something aint right. And if I check the same guildstore the next day, same amount of mats are there again (and the old ones are often already bougth). This would suggest that a player constantly farming rawmats 7-9 hours a day.....It doesn´t add up

Probably. There are a ton of them. Check a few guild stores. You'll see individual users selling like 20 stacks of 200 dreugh wax, resupplied regularly. I'm sure they're actually farming 24 hours a day.

How cheap were the mats? If it's mildly cheap then maybe just a regular farmer...if it was like 10% of regular cost then you probably should have realised something about the deal was too good...

There are a few guild stores with obvious botters selling in them. It's like they don't even care.

It would be so easy to catch these ones. All a GM would need to do is check all the guild stores in the game (like 2 hours of work). Flag anyone with a few thousand raw mats in inventory and then follow them around for a bit to confirm they are botting.

Umm I dont wanna sound paranoid, but there were situations where people were banned for buying something from accounts that were used for botting and goldselling. Its better to avoid this kind of deals.

Traders buy low and sell high.

When you buy in the millions you get discounts. When you flip it at the right time you make millions more.

Not everyone with stacks of gold tempers cheated.

Not saying that. It happens from time to time that you get across someone Selling big piles of tempers. But not 200/day each day for a week straigth.

Damn. That's a bit sketchy. I know that buying gold is against the terms, and I'd never do anything like that. I make more than enough gold selling gear I farm apart of Overland sets, and from farming dungeons for gear. There's no need for me to do that, or desire to. But damn. To think I could get banned for buying from someone with those amazing deals. That's scary.

I mean, I view it like this. If I'm out and about selling motifs and Overland sets in a hub area (e.g. Grahtwood, Craglorn, etc.). And I come across someone selling stuff for really cheap, instinctively I'm going to go for that deal. Especially if they're selling in bulk. Why? Because they got the juice. And what person doesn't chase after great deals. You know?

No worries, there's a way to atone from this sin, it's in the ToS:
You now have to farm vMA to get a sharpened Inferno Staff and then deconstruct it. Video proof required, to be posted on the forum, tagging devs.

Lmao. Nope. My VMA farming/grinding days are over unfortunately. If I do VMA nowadays, it's to test out a new build or rotation.
