Advice on survivability for a DK?

I don't know what it is but I have a stamina DK that can't survive in practically any fight. My one healing ability (dragon blood) helps a bit, but mostly I get slaughtered no matter what happens. Any advice on how to make this character more survivable without having to do hours and hours of pvp to grab a skill that isn't available for pve players?
Clueless, but willing to learn.

If you don't want vigor, you could use rally if you have a 2 hander in your set up. Igneus shield + rally to get the major mending buff

I've mostly been playing with dual wield/bow.

Igneous shield, Bone Shield, Rally, there is also a 2 hander heal I cant remember offhand, and dont forget potions, tri-pots are great for survivability. What you really want in the end though is Rally, yes, you have to PvP for it. Suck it up and go zerg surf for a few hours each day, throw a resto staff on back bar and get AP from healing the zerg and use AoEs to tag opposing zergs. For that matter, a resto staff on back bar can be helpful even for a stamina build for solo content or if you place mainly class abilities on back bar, true, you wont be able to spam heals, but just a mutagen every once in awhile is a big help.

You will need vigor plain and simple, it's not even that long in PvP. 88000 ap I believe. Just get into as many keep battles as you can and you should gain enough ap in 2-4 hours.

You need vigor. Go into PvP just few minutes per day, find large scale fights and farm AP. It is not hard at all to get that sweet vigor. Also, since you are DK, and stamina one, you might want to use 2h and DW atm. You have no master bow or maelstorm one, so 2h is better choice. It has gap closer, cheap spammable shield, cheap heal, cheap execute and cheah single target spammable. Combined with few dw essential skills like deadly cloak and rendering slashes, you will be not that bad in PvE, for now. Later on, you will go back to dw/bow setup, once you have the right tools for that.

If it's PvP Stack all defensive skill on one bar. Particularly a s+b bar, and have skills like Igneous, Volatile, evasion, vigor, etc.

If it's PvE then healer should help you out. Goal however is to hit around 18k hp unbuffed so you don't get one shotted.

If it's questing then do whatever.
