Impact of the the Creation Club micro-DLC on TES lore

I was wondering whether the Bethesda-approved micro-DLCs would be considered part of the "canon" lore, that is whether we should expect other TES games to take them into account?

For example, we saw in the Creation Club trailer that there would now be Dwemer crabs... Does it mean we should expect, for example, ESO to have, at some time in the future, a Dwemer Mudcrab pet, or to see Dwemer Mudcrabs added in some Dwemer ruin?

That something appears on the Creation Club store does not make it canon. But neither does it preclude such somethings from appearing more officially in the future.

As documenters of The Lore, that's something that UESP are planning to reach out to Gstaff and ask for official clarification about.

    Thanks!
It is certainly a bit confusing: the Dwemer Mudcrab would be something entirely new, but the Grey Cowl and the Ruin's Edge featured in the trailer are already established part of lore (and considering their legendary nature, I guess they could come as a reward for some quest, which in turn would add new lore too?)

Lorewise, I'm much more concerned about stuff like Link's costume and sword in the Nintendo version of Skyrim. What's next, the ability to play as Mario or Yoshi?

On the positive side, automatic rifles are finally an option instead of bows.

I don't think Amiibo is considered canon or part of the lore in any game. It's just a silly thing Nintendo offer.

I dont recall any Dwemer crabs in the trailer and just watched it again and didnt see any. Could you provide a time stamp or better yet a screen cap? @VerboseQuips

Eh, Skyrim has had the Space Core mod for forever and it's never been a problem. A sword and some clothes shouldn't be either.

Yeah, but player mods are way different from official content.

That was an official add-on made by Valve and Bethesda to celebrate the release of Steam Workshop.

The way I see it the company just makes sure the mod plays nicely with the game systems and doesn't mess up your game. Not that it adds to the lore. It is not officially designed and produced by the actual company.

Here's the thing: it doesn't need to be personally created by the team at Bethesda Game Studios to be considered canon. ESO isn't. The Greg Keyes novels aren't. Heck, if Bethesda sold the Elder Scrolls franchise and another studio started taking the series in a wildly different direction, it would still be canon because the decision lies in the hands of those who hold the rights to the IP.

They aren't calling it mods, but outsourced DLC, which is new. If Bethesda wants it to be canon, it will be - that's why it'd be nice to hear a confirmation from the company's representative.

It had no place in the game, but was done for fun. If they keep that sort of stuff to a bare minimum, it is OK. Money is a powerful incentive to look the other way, though. If Bethesda starts looking the other way when some cross promotion comes along, there could be too much "fun".

If that is indeed the case then, like ESO, the Keyes' novels etc then they will have to be approved and stay within the design guidelines to be considered canon. I didn't mean to say that they need to be produced by the BGS but rather it needs to be within the official guidelines for the Elder Scrolls IP.

History is like a big woven carpet of many, many threads.

One monk will tell you this while a ruler tells you the opposite.

The writings of the victorious survive while the tomes of the defeated lie as broken as the ruins of their dreams yes.

The only way to know the truth of anything in history was to be there - and even then how do you know who in front of you lies and who is honest?

The history of Tamriel is no different to the history of anywhere else.

There are many different kinds of truth.
