Magwarden + Bear?

Hello,

I'm a returning player to ESO, but that being said I only got to Vr2-3 back when I played and don't know a great deal about building a character etc. Anyway I've decided to roll a warden and I've got a build in mind and was hoping someone could review it. I'm not really looking to min-max, just looking to do my own thing (for now at least) but I'd like to know whether this is viable.

I was looking at a skill calculator and noticed that frost destro staffs have passives that make blocking cost magicka and can taunt, also some of the winter's chill abilities scale with hp, although can be morphed to magicka.

My build idea is to play a heavy armour warden, using a frost destro staff with a bear companion. Will probably use a 2h as well or sword and board. I've read that people can tank with a frost staff but I'm looking to be more of a defensive caster (who might be able to situationally off tank) rather than a true tank.

Anyone know whether this sort of build could be viable?

This is just my own experience after pvping on solo stamwarden for a week in open cyrodiil. The bear does not work well when fighting multiple oponents and in big battles, it gets into too much trouble and dies too easy, it has no intelligence obviously. It also has a way to wander away from where you are fighting and you end up trying to keep it doing what you want for too much, effectively slowing yourself down way too much. Its just not effective. It works well in duels, 1v1 and possibly battegrounds, but it does not work well for cyrodiil, no pet does imo.

Hey thanks for the heads up,

I'll keep that in mind when I come to PvP. In terms of solo/levelling or PvE content would it be viable and do you think it's useful (aside from PvP of course) with a frost staff and heavy armour for a tanky warden?

I've been playing with a frost staff Warden (just questing and clearing zones - which includes going solo to Public Dungeons). My personal preference is going with 2 Heavy 5 Light, but it's because my chosen races has zero affinity for magicka. Works pretty well even for getting the Public Dungeons' Group Challenges done solo, I completed Wrothgar's bright and early today when no one was around, on a lowish level character.
