My launcher shows an install button instead of the play button. Last time i played the game was yesterday. Is there a way to fix it without having to reinstall the whole data? Its way too much to download, i don't even have enough space on my ssd to install it a second time.

Tried that, too, without success. After having read in the q/a-section, I made some space on my ssd free, pressed "install" in the launcher, closed it right after, restarted it, aborted the installation process and finally was able to select "repair". This function pretended to analyse the problem, but in the end started to download the whole game. But instead of overwriting the old data in the folder "Elder scrolls online", it created a new one named "Elder scrolls online EU". I fear that was the problem, ZOS simply renamed the game direction which the launcher wasn't able to find afterwards. So I aborted the download once again, renamed the old folder, but then got an error concerning an invalid game version caused by an aborted actualisation. Like 4-5 hours ago, i restarted the download which still continues. And all this trouble because of a renamed folder? I am a little disappointed, to be honest.

Anyway, thanks to you trying to help me when ZOS support didn't ;)

You can 'Repair' your game through the Game Options in the launcer, though I don't know if that would fix your issue.
    Worth a try maybe?

Even in the game options, it reads "install", not "repair" anymore.

Seems as if the launcher doesn't find the game installation or the patch data...

Save or delete your current Launcher

Download and install the latest launcher from your account page to a different location (D :\Games\ESO)
Make sure you create a new folder for ESO

The Launcher can be also found here:
    https://elderscrolls-a.akamaihd.net/products/BNA_Launcher/Install_ESO.exe

Move your latest Launcher to your ESO folder

    Folders should be like this:

    + Launcher
    + The Elder Scrolls Online
    -- depot
    -- game
    -- vo_en

The new Morrowind launcher installer wants me to install the whole game, too. Luckily, I found the old installer of One Tamriel, so I was able to test your proposed procedure. After restarting the launcher, it got updated and it asked me again to install the whole game.

I went to the Morrowind folder and started eso64.exe manually, it worked, I reached the authentification screen. So it's only the installer, it somehow lost the direction to my eso folder. Supposingly, I could live with that, but I fear I wont get the future updates.

Ok, can you install the latest Morrowind Launcher again?

Install it to a different folder and move your "The Elder Scrolls Online" folder to the Morrowind (new) path
