How to increase blacksmithing and get ores(ingots - edit) of your level...

I am sure this has been posted many times but this one is from me... From my personal preference, in Davon's Watch, goto the weapon shop and the armor shop and hide and steal all the weapons other then the bows and armors... Log out and log back in to reset the stock. Keep doing this until you get max inventory and goto the blacksmithing station on the other side of the town and deconstruct all the metal weapons to gain blacksmithing points and ores of your own level. Hope this helps those who did not know... Enjoy~!

Soon after I started playing I hit the gold sink issue that most new players run into at the start of their careers. However, I watched a few 'How to get rich quick video's', and adopted the Hireling and Crafting Writ strategy.

So, each of my characters now has three hirelings that deliver appropriate materials to them free of charge at regular intervals. (Several times a day, if I'm online) I also complete the six crafting contracts available to every certified crafter on a daily basis, which also reward you with materials as well as gold, and inspiration.

In addition these writs frequently reward you with a crafting survey, which I distribute amongst my characters according to need and relevance. E.g. If my Master Tailor gets given a Blacksmith Survey he will pass it to my Blacksmith to process and that ensures that the materials recovered are matched to my main crafters needs in each profession.

It may seem like a lot of effort, but I'm using Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter which speeds the whole process along, and i suspect that in truth it's probably faster than creeping about trying to nick stuff and avoid the guards.

Personally, I've never bought (or stolen) weapons to deconstruct as I find I get plenty in the writ rewards. I do occasionally have to buy raw materials for writ crafting, but the cost of these is usually offset by the sale of all raw materials that I no longer need. The main thing I keep running out of are style materials, and so I occasionally have to do a bulk purchase of racial style items either from the vendors or from guild stores.

If you have another high lvl character, use him/her to loot and steel everything. Launder all your stolen stuff and place it at the bank.
Retrieve it with your lower lvl character and deconstruct it for crazy crafting xp

is that so, gamsir? higher level items deconstructed giving more crafting points? did not know that... thanks for that again, gamsir~! :)

so if gamsir is right, then my apologies, people... then the 122 per deconstruction must be at my level of 26 and ocichalcum... sorry, folks...

As gamsir says everything levels on use to the level of the character activating it.

So, looting and stealing with a higher level character will produce higher level loot. Opening a chest, or looting a cabinet with a higher level character will produce higher level loot, and completing a crafting survey or a treasure map on a higher level character produces materials that match their level (either crafting level or character level). Hence the distribution of surveys to the highest level crafter.

@gamsir is correct that higher level (and higher quality) goods give more inspiration, but fails to mention that most items stolen in the open like that have a value of 0 gold which means even at a high level they will give nearly no inspiration (crafting exerpience).

EDIT: I suggest asking in guild chat for someone to send you their "junk loot" from high level characters. They will probably sell instead of send intricate items, but I know that I myself would send tons of other items to help a guildie level up crafting.

Is Uncle John's band calling you? Do you daydream about Sugar Magnolias? Is your favorite sunflower a China Cat? Tired of Truckin' alone to Terrapin Station? If so, share some Space with other hippies & deadheads in the guild Sunshine Daydream! Send a message in game (PC-NA) to Kaibeth for your invitation.

But from all this, if you get the level ores from stealing and deconstructing and then create items and then deconstruct, you would be getting pretty good points in blacksmithing I think...

Not as much as if you arranged a swapping system, so that you are deconstructing someone elses work.

Deconstructing your own work does not return as much inspiration as deconstructing someone elses.

Certainly, when it comes to levelling an Enchanter the Guilds I am in tend to buddy up and craft, swap and deconstruct each others Glyphs to maximise the inspiration gain. I've never done it with blacksmithing, tailoring or woodworking, but it ought to work exactly the same way.

Go to cold harbour, grab all you can ... level it up to green, decon it. its worthless when its white, but when you bump it up, you'll get ingots/wood/cloth back... or just sell it to a vendor. Good way to make some quick gold.
Thank the stars! I wasn't sure I'd find anyone else out here. Please, I ne- STAB! STAB! STABSTABSTABSTABSTAB!
