Physical and Spell Penetration

I've an Orc stam sorc at 411cp now, i run the 5 spriggan's and 5NMG sets and i was wondering: my physical pen is at 10k now and Spell pen at 5k without the proc from NMG, I've a few points in Piercing also, so my question is this: should i concentrate on physical only to get it close to 18k or i have to have both pens at 18?
Thanks in advance

Stamina abilities only use Physical Penetration and likewise Magicka abilities use Spell Penetration so as a Stam Sorc you should only need Physical Penetration.

Is this for PvE? If you run within a group you should be aware that debuffs get you in overpenetration pretty soon. Ransack alone (major fracture) drops npc's mitigation by 5280.

Dragonknights and wardens could use aoe abilities to hit large groups of enemies with major fracture, so it might be good to plan a group PVE build with the expectation that 5k resistance debuff will be accounted for already. And as Chilly said, the tank at a minimum will likely use Pierce armor or Ransack to apply a debuff on a boss.

Yes, I am talking about pve only, dungeons and trials, so in that case you've made some very accurate remarks. I haven't thought about Major Fracture from the tank which will be always up and it adds 5k additional pen.
In that case I am thinking that maybe I have to run a little different sets depending on if i am running solo or in a group.
Maybe in a solo situation i should run Kra'gh in addition to NMG and Spriggan's which in a group environment I'll replace with Velidreth or Stormfist.
    What do you think?
