Sharpened Maul, Overboard Penetration or Just Right?

So I have a sharpened Ravager maul sitting in my bank and I'm wondering with battlegrounds in mind, is this overboard in the penetration to the point in which I don't really get anything for it, or with the heavy armor meta is this a solid item?

HiImRex✭✭✭✭✭med armor build w major armor buffs (which everyone has) ~ 15k resists give or take a bit depending on front bar or back bar
Maul 20% - 3k
Sharpened - 5k
Major fracture/breach - 5k
13k pen vs. 15k resist on average so no it's not overkill even vs. medium builds. And not all classes/set-ups get access to major fracture/breach so definitely not overkill.
On my heavy armor builds I have 20k+ resists so even adding in a spriggan wouldn't go overkill unless buffs drop on front bar.

✭Over penetrating is so wasteful imo. I shoot sharpened mace and major fracture to be my main sources like you've got.0
