So during homestead I basically had bis gear for all builds, now I look up guides and am like wtf is going on
I have to completely redo my tank seeing how sturdy is now best in slot for everything, thats veeeeery expensive considering how long and how much I spent on my tank:
(Full BIS golded out Ebony (took me around 100 runs to get infused chest), alkosh, powerful assault (spent over 300k on items alone), Now I have to hunt for sturdy chokehorn/shadowrend shoulder/helmet)

On my main which is sorc apparently burning spell weave is no good anymore, necropotance is meh for trials as you still can't use pet on half the bosses and on console we dont have magic key to change skill/gear slots in a second. I have to farm netchs touch now for no pet setup? AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I see people using silks of the sun as meta for mag dks now, WHY? Isn't burning spellweave better considering that silks of the sun doesn't get spell damage buff from major/minor sorcery?

My nightblade tank spank build is completely useless now, hits for like 12-14k , guess ill convert him to pve thankfully I have full scathing divines set so I pretty much got bis gear for him this patch, I just don't really like nb playstyle.

My healer didn't change so thats good.

Stam sorc, no more maelstrom weapons (dual wield) which I grinded so long and hard for? People using infused/sharpened vo daggers.... thats so hard to grind up, I have a precise dagger which I guess Ill use if I find a sharpened one...

Templar, I have 2 moondancer sharpened swords, but now again... people using warmaiden or julianos? Why can't I use bsw on him? I still have vampire bane/ref light/fire wall of elements on him that provides pretty good uptime...


So to summarize this before people tell me to adapt and stuff, Why are those 400 to x element sets so good now? I mean shouldn't bsw still beat most of them??? I thought bsw would still remain king considering how much elemental dmg cp was nerfed...

Believe it or not, you do not have to chase the meta. That is a never ending game of cat and mouse.

The reason for why BSW is no longer king is that ZOS wanted to give players options. No one was really using stuff like Netch's Touch or Ysgramor so they nerfed BSW a little and buffed up the other sets to make them competitive. As @Bouldercleave said, don't bother chasing the meta. It will change 3 months from now anyway so what's the point. Make something you are happy with that is still good for clearing endgame content.

That is some terrible myth that is impossible to dispel from the community. It 100% benefits from Major/minor sorcery.

For magDK BSW and SIlks of the sun are very close in power level, probably not even worth switching. I don't have any of the trails gear so BSW is better since I can trigger it and weapon swap compared to silks that needs to always be on.

I just have no idea what is going on with tanks now . it seems to have been completely changed. Honestly it does actually make sense that the Tank stat is now health like it kind of should be. But I got in an arguement in zone chat about how tanks should be health stacking now instead of the support builds with 30K hp and lots of resources. You only need like 14K of the other two now since resource return is no longer tied to them. I am pretty sure Ebon is still good though.

I think you can still play NB tank.. you just end up with 90K hp or something stupid from your passives and just not be able to be killed.

I have never played Sorc, but I have netches touch gear stored in my bank from when I farmed strenght of automation.

I don't think Templars have enough fire skills to keep burning running with BSW now. Both the trigger chance and spell bonus was nerfed bringing back into line with other sets like Julianos and War madien, I think those two are going to be better for Templar depending on your specific build.

I asked this like 2 weeks ago, and only reply I got was this. Apparently people think it the extra damage is added after everything else on top.

. i know ur feeling- working hard to get the best of the best- having that feeling of completion and satisfaction in the game. i was the same with Vo + tbs and maelstrom daggers- then the meta changes from tbs to spriggans and spriggans to now twice fanged snake. but the thing is- not much has changed in effect- still smashing al the content as the cp has long outgrown the content- the gear only marginally makes a difference in pve now once u have gold in one of the better sets. only the way your perceiving things.

I wholeheartedly agree with boulder and also recommend to not chase the meta. In MMO its not worth it due to constant changes requested and unrequested by players. Set yourself up with gear you think is effective and fits your builds nicely. You don't have to be the top performer. The world is a big place and there's always someone who exceeds in something
