Unfortunately for the pleb that I am, I never played TES:III (nor anything else before Skyrim) so everything about Vvardenfell, besides the images and Lore I looked up on Wikis, was completely new to me. So when I got to the little camp of Ald'ruhn, and actually took a minute to look at the odd structure the Ashlanders lived in, and realized what it was,

Man, in 2003, the draw distance was so low, you wouldn't even realize what was going on until you were on your way into it's mouth. :p

It's very cool but it is dumb how they lock you out of going back inside once the quest is over.

    Dude. They objectively did not.

The art style maybe, but the graphics...no.

The terrifying thing is there used to be more than one of those things. O_o
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

It's the Ashlander council chamber. You have no business going back in there.

There is however an NPC in Elden Root (Hlethena, herself a Dunmer) that keeps saying that it is the Redoran who live in the shell of a massive crab in Ald'ruhn. Boy she got that wrong. Or is seeing into the future

The design and scale of the scar crab was definitely more impressive in TES 3. First thing I did when I got this dlc was run to see it, and man was I dissapointed.

They did. I can't get back to Stirk. But that makes sense as I have no business being there once the All Banners meeting is over. If the quest that takes you to a place resolves in such a way that you should no longer be able to enter that place, then you should no longer be able to enter that place. It would make no sense you being able to go back into Skar if you have no more business with the Ashlander council, just as it makes no sense going back to Stirk if the meeting is over.

Oh yeah, well. Where are all the silt striders? You mean to tell me there is not one single wild silt strider. I know some red exiles have some young ones up north in Daedra ruin but that's it. I was really hoping for a wild silt strider to just be walking along and swwiiish, you got stepped on by a silt strider and you're dead. Like the felreavers in wow.
