Need Help With Race Choice For Warden

In a similar thread to this, I wrote that I have been trying to create a warden with an animal companion focus from a lore perspective, and therein is my issue. All of the base line animal companion skills are Morrowind creatures. This makes me inclined to lean towards Dunmer, or possibly a Bosmer who grew up on Vvardenfell.

The bear throws a wrench in the works however. Bears do not inhabit Vvardenfell, and so they clash with the rest of the theme of the animal companion line. The bear as a pet makes me lean towards Nord, Orsimer, or again possibly Bosmer, but then I would not want to use the rest of the animal companion line from a lore perspective. I'm not really sure how to approach this issue.

This is a RP issue from a lore perspective. I need some insight from the forum goer's on this one, but keep it lore and not min/max.

I'm inclined to go with Nord because of the bear. Also, shalks are native to most of Morrowind and are seen in Stonefalls as well.

A beast race for a beast-controlling class. Though I suppose Orcs are close enough to a beast race. That's the DC beast race, I believe.

    That's racist.

I'm not sure if you are RP'ing or just not knowledgeable of the lore. I'm going to assume you are RP'ing and chuckle at the joke.

Well this is derailing my question and thread, and suffice to say Orsimer aren't in consideration. Keep in mind, the "Mer" part of Orsimer means elf.

I dont know how much this helps you but i thought this was an interesting read on the discovery of the "spirit wardens"

    http://teso.mmorpg-life.com/founding-of-the-spirit-wardens-lorebook/

Of course, whether they are one and the same i am not sure as it seems in contrast to the below released by zos:

But then, that is released as speculation :)

The second article is interesting. It almost seems like a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" article that you should play the warden a certain way according to this lore, but really you can play it anyway you want, reason being "because...". Which I would be fine with, if the animal companion line enabled me to choose various animals related other regions of Tamriel. Alas I cannot, so I still feel torn between Nord and Dunmer, with a possible Bosmer being the loophole.

Yeah I had similar thoughts. I think it comes down to what build you want to make and which skills you are going to use most often. Could you rely solely on the bear for a pet? Or could you only stick to the normal skills?

Considering that Nords invaded Morrowind several times, I could see a Clever-Man taming some of the local wildlife there. There's also the island of Solstheim, where a lot of Morrowind's fauna takes hold in the 4th era. This is anachronistic for ESO, of course, but still.

I'm planing a Nord Warden tank, and having to use the netch gives me a bit of a headache, but it's actually not too far fetched given their history and the shared border. Nordic worship of Kyne as the patron of all of nature's creatures could also be a loophole for Nords.

As for Bosmer, I guess they could tame just about anything, so there's not really an obstacle lore-wise. It just doesn't feel as fitting though, right?
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

I feel ya man. I didn't consider Solstheim, that's actually a really interesting compromise.

I really like the idea of an argonian warden (hist tree reference) if only the trees looked more hist-ish

I started a Nord warden last night. It seems to fit for me. (Now I'm faced with deciding whether to go mostly magicka or mostly stamina ... I'd like her to be mainly a damage dealer but have the option of healing from time to time.)
