PS4 stuttering after Morrowind Patch

Hello fellow eso players,

To start of I don't actually own morrowind and I'm just using the Base version of ESO on my PS4 pro. I've been playing for some time now without any issue.

But after yesterday's patch I started noticing stutters in gameplay. They seem to occur more around towns and city's but the amount of players present doesn't seem to effect them. Now I know for a fact these stutters weren't here before so what changed with this patch I wonder.

Is anyone else experiencing these issues or does anyone know any solutions. Should downloading the game again fix anything ?

Well I haven't got past the update it downloads 1gbit and then stalls for one hour and then resets the downlode to start over again.. Funny no issue's before this update

I checked the pc client and it behaves the exact same way... stutter every few steps.

This problem only occurred after the morrowind patch on both systems for me.

I really wish someone can at least look into this.....

Same here (PS4). Feels like when you're around the main quest giver for an Event. There are so many people it's just a stutterfest.

I've had this happening both in Vvardenfell and outside of it. Doesn't matter if there are other players or NPCs around or not. I had it happen even when I was all by myself in the cave finishing up the Morrowind prologue quest. It's like the game is totally pausing for a moment.

Getting a lot of stutter on the PS4 too. Random crashes in Vvardenfell ....

I was walking to my home in the Rift and it was happening big time. Sometimes stopping the camera for a half second while rotating my view. Super obnoxious and really needs to be fixed asap. (PS4)

I'm getting stuttering on PS4 as well. It makes me sad because that's the exact reason why I left PC (stuttering). Hopefully they fix it soon

In populated cities there are a lot of shuttering PS4 PRO and also when you are queued .

It is awful. Stealth with vampirism is essentially broken; cyrodiil means constant rubberbanding followed by the inevitable frame freeze of death - it's unplayable atm. Vvardenfel is almost as bad - just without the crashing. Normal run speed is all over the place: slow, fast, stop, stutter, normal, slow. A mess.

Yes, we've all experienced it Tbh I don't think it was Morrowind that caused this.

Performance has seemingly declined every patch since Thieves Guild released on PS4. This new stuttering is just the next noticeable step in the worsening of ESO's game performance overtime.

oh, oddly enough, when I or my mount sprints, the speed is constant with none of the variability that happens with normal running.

this might be a ps4 pro issue. don't seem to be having the same problems on my standard ps4.

Same here on PS4 regular. Started after the 1.25 (Morrowind) patch. Also, character skins are blurry for a few seconds upon walking up to them.

Engineers, qa, program managers blew it on this one. I'll play pve until my plus subscription runs out in a week, then wait for them to get it right.

Same here on standard ps4 NA, also sometimes skills don't work when in combat. Slows me down when I press button for liquid lightning and it don't go off so I have to press it again. Really messing with my rotation....I hope they fix it soon.

I'm also standard PS4, btw, and it's happening constantly to the point where I feel the game is unplayable - which is a really crappy feeling as I have put a ton of money into this game (both via subscription, crown items & now the MW expansion). Can we get an acknowledgement that this is a known issue and is being looked into, @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom ?

I'm having the same issues on the Pro. I haven't played much because of it. Did everyone set up all the damage and healing and buff timer additions? Haven't tried disabling, but I'm curious if that's an issue

Glad you mentioned this I have exactly the same base version. Downloaded the 28GB or so patch 1.25 and now everywhere in Tamriel is seriously glitchy and pings in towns BAD!
When in combat especially if I hold down R2 and then press square or triangle etc for say rapid strikes I get no or laggy animation and then it all starts to stack up and all rotation is out of sync. Then it all just goes bang like all the hits were there but it just didn't show. Then all of a sudden everything is dead or nearly dead. This is just in normal PvE.
Only way to be sure you killed the mob or boss is to just keep swinging until you are out of stamina and everything else. Personally, for me with the game like this I find it almost CRIMINAL that ZOS can keep making new mounts and expansions milking money galore worldwide but there never seems to be any improvements regarding more servers to cope with all this. This current freezing and stutter problem may just be that because it's a massive new environment 'Morrowind' the whole damn world has come online, but I have always thought the game is way underpowered regarding servers. They need tons more of them and need to limit the players spawned on each server drive.
There is just too much going on now, no amount of MAINTENANCE will never sort this.
Its money spent at ZOS on new equipment that will.
I was almost going to give myself a massive headache and start checking my PS4 integrity and everything else such as bufferbloat on upload connection but then I thought hang on it was nothing like this before the patch. I always restart from time to time and rebuild the data. My connection is 35mb down 5.5mb up 11ms ping and 0 packet loss.

My experience in combat now is a miserable one.
PvP in Vivec at weekend was almost pointless. All the yellows and blues grouping with mage s*** is really ruining the game as well. You are on your own in Cyrodiil and then get about 40 players channelling some major buff through the whole group for a cataclysmic shot at one guy.
I wish it was more sword and board with block for all to see who really has fighting skills instead of firing one shot flame s*** from miles away.

Really disappointed, love the game to bits but I get no enjoyment from this current stacking stutter / freezing problem and it is a big problem.
Certainly not purchasing anything from DLC until I see otherwise.

Lastly, the auto fire on the bow is a disaster.
How are you supposed to hold a max pull from stealth for a first heavy shot. It just pings off a useless arrow alerting everything before you are ready and it does not allow a full charge before it releases either.
I know this because of seeing the damage difference on the enemies health bar before and after update.
I prefer to pull and hold the bow and release when I am ready for stealthy play.
I love the bow but I feel they should have made this a choice to turn on or off in options.

It's just super frustrating as it's prevented me from playing and enjoying the expansion that I paid $80 for.

Well still no change regarding this issue. I did submit a technical ticket and their response was "make a forum post so the design team will take note".

Well , the post is there but there seems to be a lack of any Zenimax Response. Some sort of explanation would be welcome or at least to hear that they are working on this issue.

Agreed. I don't ask for much, other than to be acknowledged when I lodge a legitimate issue. All I need is a simple, "hey doods, we're looking into it, you're being heard!"

I've been having this happen even before the Morrowind patch, particularly with Shadow Cloak (esp. when running from the guards!). I'll press the button, some of my magicka gets used up, but I don't go invisible and I get attacked just like normal. Pressing it a second time makes it work correctly.

They need to hire some competent employees. They make enough money off of us now. I hope one day I'll be able to enjoy this game without complaining about performance every 10 seconds
