Warden Bear

So, like...it takes up 2 ultimate spots, it should be way better than it is. Much like the sorc pets, DPS drops when using it. Or am I using it wrong?
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

agree, the bear doesn't do decent dps, nor taunt. plus from time to time, it is not tanky enough to survive aoe from major boss

Same argument as with sorcerer pet (it takes 2 bars and should be stronger than other skills) but everybody says it is too strong and needs to be nerfed (which I agree with)

So im not sure what to think of the bear boost request :/ Maybe slightly but not too much

The thing has a such a wide collision radius when it collides with a wall, rock, or even a small stool will cause it to despawn and not show up again until you're in a clear area. It moves so slowly that a lot of times what you engage is half dead by the time it gets to your target. And the best thing about its command attack is that if your intended target moves just a few meters it will miss entirely wasting the Ultimate used to cast it. I been learning to stun or immobilize a target before activating or waiting for them to cast something so you know they won't move... hopefully.

It's like a giant mascot looks pretty, but not to be taken seriously.

Bear being on both bars is balanced by the fact that you ALWAYS have an ultimate "in play" as it were and then when it's ultimate is ready you get even more damage. Very few ults grant any sort of benefit for being slotted giving you a straight up DPS boost for the entire duration of the fight.

    Bear-bugs aside that is.

You see where they copy and pasted it than.im quite sure the warden is identical to the one from beta they ripped apart and gave the skill lines to other classes

It needs faster attack speed even if damage per hit is lowered.

When triggering the ultimate the bear needs to instantly charge the target if its not in melee range, if it is in melee range the attack needs to be sped up greatly. A target should not be able to avoid the ultimate simply by taking a few steps to the side.

When entering combat the bear needs to appear next to the player to attack the target instantly, too many times the bear is off somewhere else or just gone completely only to magically(literally) appear when the target is nearly dead.

actually a 0 min range charge attack would be awesome.

Yep, tried it for about half an hour but it's useless except on a wide flat open space - otherwise it just keeps despawing and spawning over and over. No point having it if it's not available for combat in many situations.

It should be a double bar normal skill like a sorc pet, why they thought this was worthy of being called an ultimate is anyone's guess.

It's an extremely weak ability. It has zero endgame use.

It needs to either become a single bar ability, or a just a regular ability and not an ult (like sorc pets).

It deals very little damage, dies all the time, and has zero AOE presence. It's not balanced at all. It's completely useless.

Damage per second and durability need a HUGE boost for the skill to become useful.

I'm fairly certain the bear is responsible for quest items not being clickable, too. I've started switching him out in areas where I have to click stuff or if the quest requires I NOT kill someone.

I got killed by one at a keep defense a couple of days ago.

My bad. Clannfears and twilights you can just ignore, unless you want to heavy them for resources. The bear perhaps not so much. :D

I think they made it an ultimate so it would always scale to the PC's higher resource pool and damage stat, and so be equally useful to stamward and magward alike. But I only theorize.
Classes that don't need any class ability nerfs: Nightblades, Dragonknights, Sorcs, Templars, Wardens.

    New bear ultimate:

Call of the Wild - Call two bear spirits to slam the ground in a cone infront of you.

Basically imagine the effect from the selene monster set, one spirit bear on each side of the character, does the same damage and add a knock down effect. Not dependent on the bear pet.

Eternal Guardian - Add a reduced damage taken effect
Feral Guardian - Add a bleed effect

Its not the bear that makes the warden class its the 3 skill lines. There are bear bugs. However I hve sort of gotten use to it. Sometimes its a lazy bear, the mobs are down before the bear arrives. And I hve seen the fast bear, it launches it self quickly at the mobs.

Though its still fun playing a stamward. The heals and damage reduction form the other class skills is neat.

Yup, i got hit with a 15.5K crit from an angry bear. Those things are nasty, good builds are good builds. Plain and simple.

(I might have to send you a PM on your build, haven't spent anytime with warden yet)

Unless it's been changed recently, all pets have this issue. I've had both clannfear & twilight attack innocents that attack me when being spotted stealing, even with 'don't attack innocents' enabled.

Sadly it seems this behavior with pets is 'working as intended', as I know there's been reports of this issue with Sorc pets as far back as the games launch.

I feel they have to improve massively on the bear and potentially also decrease it to only 1 ultimate spot... the usage dropped HARD from wardens around and the ones using it are mostly doing it mostly for fluff

I would give the bear some sort of taunt and an aoe cleave similar to the pve-mob-bears use it

I feel that for pets to ever become interesting there has to be better team play and synergy - look at gw2 as a good example

Last night I watched a bear lunging and clipping through the walls of a keep then despawning over and over again as it tried to attack people trying to ram the front door. It was so hilarious we were all laughing ourselves silly. We were so distracted we didn't notice it's owner getting ready to pour boiling oil all over us and that's how we lost an 8 v 1 fight.

You still sort of need the bear because your DPS is non-existent without it. But then you're also useless with it because your DPS still sucks (it's just a bit better), but now you don't have an AOE ult. There is no way to make a DPS warden viable at the moment.

Nah, the Idiot Bear is crap. Takes both Ultimate slots, can't tank at all, plus it's rarely there when you need it in a fight anyway because the useless damn thing is stuck on terrain somewhere or just decides to stand around doing nothing. I went Werewolf early on and never bother with the bear any more. Going Werewolf has saved me many, many more times than the Idiot Bear ever did.
