(Close Thread Please) Has this ever happened? Day of Peace in Cyrodiil

I'm a new player here (started last month). Has there ever been an organized day of peace in Cyrodiil?

Everyone's heard of the Christmas truce (if not, here's a Wikipedia link), a day of peace during WWI where many soldiers from both sides gathered in no man's land for a break from the fighting. Our day of peace would not have to be Christmas day, but rather any other day chosen by us. Indeed, Christmas day would not be the best choice because many players would not have time to get on their PCs.

Has this ever happened in Cyrodiil in ESO? I think if we plan a day like this far in advance, we could get many players in the forums and the developers behind this idea. Maybe the developers could create some holiday-event-ish things for players to do while the fighting is halted. There could even be quests associated with the peace event, where players could earn XPs or Alliance Points, which would create some incentive for halting the fighting. Personally, I would enjoy being able to explore more of Cyrodiil without the threat of attack.

I think an important aspect of this day would be to still have PvP enabled. It would be a special moment if everyone still had the potential to attack the other two alliances, but refused to do so by themselves in respect of this day. I think a day of peace in Cyrodiil would even make sense in the lore because I could see some of the Divines blessing a day to stop us mortals from fighting over the Ruby Throne.

What do you think?

Why this is a bad idea: https://youtu.be/0TSGUf1xbF8

Someone is going to grief the crap out of this, simply because there won't be repercussions for pvping in a PvP zone. Setting up an event like this would essentially immortalize whichever guild comes in first and wipes everyone, it's a game, not an actual war. RPers can do and think whatever they like, but asking players to act one way in a video game is all the more incentive for them to do the opposite.

    Great idea. Terrible people.

The easy of being able to just murder everyone standing there not fighting back would be to appealing for some.

Not me I'm down. Multi alliance nude dancing.

Of course, there will always be people who want to exploit another group of people showing peace. I believe that there is strength in numbers. I'm not being an idealist, but what if there were player-made repercussions? As in, everyone exhibiting peace would agree to attack only those that attack us first. We could even sign up everyone for roles: massive amounts of healers for each alliance, those that would mark targets of the hostile groups of people, etc. My ideas aren't perfect right now, but I feel like there is potential here :)

Thanks for the video, @bikerangelo. I'm with you, @TheNuminous1!

Edit: Now that I'm thinking more about this, realistically for a day of peace to happen, more threads like this would have to bring attention to our idea. A team of community ambassadors would have to get involved, leaders of the community would need to support the day of peace, and many guilds would have to join in. Best case scenario would be involving the developers. Anyways, I encourage any readers to reply with their thoughts!

Personally, I would enjoy being able to explore more of Cyrodiil without the threat of attack.

Is this the real reason for the request? Because most people go to Cyrodiil because they WANT the threat of attack. I would feel no desire to participate in a no-PVP event.

Periodically people ask for PVE Cyrodiil and such for the quests. If that's your goal, I gotta tell you, the quests in Cyro are pretty lame fetch and carry kill x number of monsters kind of quests. There's no story line, and you aren't missing much.

This could be only possible if the players wouldn't be able to attack other players, so Cyrodiil would be changed to a PvE zone for that 24 hours. Tbh this idea is interesting, while I can't really see any meaning. A connecting event could be cool tho, a daedric attack for example, when the factions must have been cooperating for some great reward.

For the record, no that was not the real reason for the request. I should have made myself more clear, but I think "being able to explore more of Cyrodiil without the threat of attack" could be incorporated into an event that the developers create, or we the players organize. Somehow putting down our weapons and everyone exploring Cyrodiil like we could in Oblivion would be a nice "day at the park"-type of social event. Just another idea I wanted to throw out there!

I like the idea of a daedric attack! That kind of story would be awesome, and it would make sense as daedra are common enemies. What if Molag Bal showed up and was some huge 50-million-HP boss that all three sides needed to help take down? HOW COOL would that be? :D As for changing it to a PvE zone, you are right because there wouldn't be the meaning of having the potential to fight but refusing to do so. I think that possibility is what would make this day an interesting event in ESO history.

There was something like that on the last day of the psijic beta before they wiped the PTS, I think around March 2014.

AD, DC and EP kind of teamed up to try to find a way inside the Imperial City. We killed the Titans at the bridge but at that time there was an Imperial Sorcerer who would come out and one shot everybody. We also did a lot of duels inside the Temple of the Ancestor Moth

Keep in mind for a long time after launch, Cyrodiil was the only place all three factions could be in the same instance. It was not even possible to join enemy faction players for group dungeons or trials.

That's strange, can you elaborate on what you did that caused the banning? Maybe this thread is moot if we would get banned for a truce.

This is a terrible idea. Why even go into Cyrodiil if there is nothing to do? If there is no fighting and there is no AP, unless you want to cheat and flip resources, outposts, and keeps back and forth without fighting each other. I can kinda see PVE players wanting to come in to grab skyshards and discover all the locations, without having to PVP any. However, what would PVPers do during this time? You are basically asking PVPers to give up there fun so you can explore the one small part of the map where they can fight each other without having to worry about them attacking you. The PVE and skyshards are there for incentives to get PVEers to come in and try out PVP, they might like it. If not you can spend 3-4 hours to collect all the skyshards and leave cyro and never come back. I would not be at all interested in this, and don't see why anyone would be interested in going into cyrodiil and doing nothing.
I use to be a PVP'er like you but then I took a lag spike to the knee.

DC and EP were constantly flipping Bleakers and get 250-300k ap/h. People who get more than 10 millions ap were banned. I didn't.

Thanks for the insight. A moderator could please lock this thread now, as I don't see this going anywhere but people continuing to say, "What a bad idea!" :)

If a day of peace were organized, places like Bleakers (all keeps and holds, probably) would have to be locked or somehow prevented from being abused like what @StereoLiz mentions. A fun social event like this would not be worth holding in Cyrodiil if people are going to get banned.

Anyways, thanks for chiming in people! It was nice to think about a bit more, and hear other people's take. Just wanted to share an idea, and to check if others had the same idea in the past. Feel free to lock the thread, and thanks again!

On December 24th 2015 for the Holidays in Blackwater Blade on PS4, my EP friends and I formed a band (drums, flutes, lutes) and serenaded AD at Blackboot and DC at Dragonclaw.

Several "enemy" players came over and danced with us and it was tons of fun.

We did get wiped a few times, but most players understood the sentiment and I'll always remember that day in ESO with a smile.

We used to have some organized guild vs guild fights on xbox. 100's of people from all 3 alliances would meet up and have some 12v12 or 24v24 in open field. But that was only momentary peace because we were just lining up to fight or watching other people fight. But the greifers would inevitably come, they would see the battle markers or camps and see people standing around and just couldn't seem to help themselves.

There was a huge farewell party the last day of the super secret Psijic Order beta testing, we all met just south of the imperial city (which wasn't accessible at the time).

People brought all the scrolls there and we took turns carrying them around. Back then you could still see all the visual effects on other players, which was pretty spectacular.

There were several hundred players in that spot and there was no lag. Them good old days ...

This happened in Guild Wars 2 - there was a bug where enemy players were marked as friendly and no one could fight each other, so players got together and held dance parties and explored together. It was weird, but a lot of fun while it lasted.

Of course since it was actually a (literally game breaking) bug it got fixed as soon as the developers could do it so it didn't last long. But people still talk about it.

Unfortunately I think without something like that - making it literally impossible to fight each other - the people saying some people would grief it are right. It'd never work just on players trusting each other. Like now where you can be out exploring and doing the PvE stuff in Cyrodiil and you might meet enemy players who are there for the same reason you are who will ignore you, be careful not to use AoEs etc. But sooner or later you're also going to meet a group who will blaze through slaughtering everyone they can and probably teabag you too while they're at it.

Something like this was already done. Double ap week, all population driven by the single goal of flipping keeps. Almost total peace save for the ap police raids and random killing sprees ;)

Closest thing I've ever seen to it on PC or Xbox was when a girl that played mainly DC but had an EP and played with my guild back in the day on Xbox and she got murdered. She was actually setting up a tourny and STS and my guild held it in her honor. There was quite of bit of people there.

Then again when Sypher and Richard came to Xbox it was a lot like that too.
