Title.

I simply don't want steam running all the time when I'm playing ESO anymore. I don't want those 2 connected whatsoever either. It's also why i never bought Morrowind Upgrade on steam but used the website. Thought it would let me switch.

And don't ask why like everybody ingame please.

Can't you just download the client from this website as a separate installation?

You don't need to run steam/eso concurrently - you can launch eso.exe (or eso64.exe) separately.

You can run the launcher without Steam fine. You just need to run the .exe directly. Be advised though that running ESO this way will cause you to lose access to Morrowind if you bought it through Steam, although this should not affect you as you bought yours direct.

I know this for a fact because I bought my ESO on Steam but can run it quite happily without Steam even being loaded.

Find the file path_to_steam\SteamApps\common\Zenimax Online\Launcher\Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe and launch directly from there. It helps to make a shortcut on your desktop.

Thanks everybody, running it directly thro Eso64.exe works just fine

Now I just want to say.... The reason why i didn't want steam with the game is that.... something went terribly wrong with my steam and reinstalling it or tweaking it doesn't fix anything. It will just freeze any game i play on it after 5 seconds, regardless of overlay or not. The same would happen with ESO's launcher. Not sure what's actually causing it other than it being on steam. My steam updates are stuck as well and won't move past 1%.

I was really frustrated as this is my only day OFF during the week so thanks again! Now I can explore more of Vvardenfell.
